Colored shoe dilemma

Hey everyone and thanks in advance for any helpful comments.

Our wedding is scheduled for next summer. And we've decided to go for a more classic look in choosing our colors: black/white/gold. My problem is that I'm not a very traditional bride but I will be wearing a traditional dress the was passed down by my grandmother. In order to "shake things up" a bit a wanted to wear colored heels with my dress. I'm not a big fan of white shoes, but everyone seems to think that I should stick with the white. Any suggestions? I was thinking maybe black, or gold? Heck I don't know. Suggestions please.....


Ps: I don't want to be tacky. This isn't tacky is it?

You can def rock some colorful shoes. No need to go white/traditional! I will be wearing red shoes... seems like quite a lot of girls are doing this actually.

It's YOUR wedding, if you want to wear pink shoes with purple and orange polka dots, do it!  You don't want to look at pics and think "i hate my shoes and wish I'd worn the other ones".   Most people won't even show your shoes until you choose to show them off at the reception.

I also think there are some really fab gold shoes out there, and you can find something really unique and different, and still keep with your theme. Some crazy shoes are a lot of fun, I think- go for it.

For years my daughter has been "known" for her obsession with black/white zebra-ish prints and patterns.  Her BM's will be wearing black dresses with pops of pink, including pink shoes.  My daughter's goal is to find a black/white zebra-ish print shoe with pink trim---to "tie" everyone in!  Believe it or not, she has already found 1 version!

If anyone wants to be critical of your choice of footwear---so sad, too bad!  I wish "back in the day" people would have been more tolerant of putting a little whimsy into a wedding!

I also vote gold. I think that would be fabulous.

Also, I think colored shoes often get more use after the wedding than white ones. I've worn my blue shoes three or four times already in the month since my wedding, and know several other girls who regularly wear their colored wedding shoes.

I think the Gold would be  a nice touch.

I probably wouldn't do black unless you had other balck accents in your ensemble.. Maybe a long black ribbon on your bouquet, etc. (because they are such a common dress shoe color, you don't want it to look like an aftersight.)

I think the gold would be absolutely lovely.

As for other colors, just choose something that will be an accent color, if you did pink flowers, then pink shoes, yellow flowers, then yellow shoes.

I think your idea of updating a traditional dress with accessories is very nice and subtle.  GO for it.

Do colored shoes! Gold would look great, great in pics as well. I ordered hot pink (oneof our colors) from Zappos, free sh and  returns if you don't like them. I went through like 5 pairs until I found the shoe that fits!
