Hair ornaments/ veil questions

Hi all!

I like the idea of going veil-less at my wedding and wearing some kind of great hair ornament, like a brooch converted into a hair decoration? Like "Mad Men".:) I like

I like the idea of using a converted brooch instead of something made for hair ornamentation, as I think it's funkier. Here's my question- should I take whatever brooch I do get to a jeweler and ask if I should get it converted in some way, or should I just take it to my hairdresser and see if she can deal with it in brooch-form? Also, I don't really need a veil, right? I'm not really into 'em, although I have friends who have looked lovely in them,

Look on Etsy. There are TONS of people on there who will make you something. A lot of them will have brooches, but you could easily provide a brooch that you find too.

You can take it straight to your hairdresser.  She should be able to work with if fro there.  Also, you don't need a veil.  It was an old tradition as a sign of purity.  If you don't want it don't do it.!

I'm doing the headpiece instead of a veil too. I just didn't see the point, and don't people just take them off for the reception anyways?

I would think you/your hair dresser could attach a hair comb right to the brooch without too much trouble. Like Meredith said, Etsy has tons of stuff. Also try looking in antique shops, I 've seen some really cute vintage jewelry that would make great headpieces.
