what sash color?

I need help deciding....my dress is ivory and complete lace all over, with a little bit of sequence here and there..... I've tried it on with a satin sash and I love it, but I can't decide what color sash I want.....The wedding is outdoors in late fall, but we aren't doing the "typical" fall colors. My bouquet is navy blue, light blue, medium blue, cream, and light purple. I tried the gown on with a navy blue sash, but it just seems too dark....would davids bridal "cornflower" color or "wisteria" be too light and bright for an ivory gown....? Or maybe I should just go with the navy blue, but I'd like a lighter color on (there's alot of navy blue in the decor)....I'm not sure if these pics will show up correct, but I'll give it a try :) Thank you in advance for any suggestions.......

Re: what sash color?

  • What color are your bridesmaids wearing? Is you fi wearing a suit (if so, what color) or a tux?
  • I also think the navy is pretty dark but from what I remember the DB "cornflower" color is pretty bright for a fall wedding.  If you could find an in-between color I thin kit would look good.

  • What about marine or lapis? They're pretty medium blue and purple.
  • Personally, I think that if you are going to wear a sash keep it neutral.  The navy does look great with your dress but I think the cornflower would look more prom-ish.  My dress is ivory lace as well and I am wearing a champagne sash.  It doesn't technically "match" anything as my colors are navy and chartreuse but it gives it enough contrast and looks very nice.
  • The sash color is "marine", I love it, but it is probably too dark. I haven't picked the bridesmaids dress yet, we were kinda waiting until I figure out what color sash I'm getting...The "cornflower" is too light/bright, there is an in between color blue from davids bridal and it is called "horizon", I may have to try it on with that....my fiance is going to wear maybe a black tux, now I'm not sure what color he is going to wear, what should we do?
  • Horizon, that's the one I was thinking of.

Anyway, any shade you choose will go with a black tux, and if you want the shade of his vest and tie to match your sash exactly, MW Tux has DB coordinating accessories. But it's really not important for them to match exactly, so pick whatever you want! Silver or white vest/tie could also look really great. Or you could do a purple on you and blue on him, to mix it up.
  • My dress has color on it, I went with the Marine (november wedding) which is the same color my BM are wearing.
