Snarky Brides

*Ang and other diet/nutrition savy people*

Any opinion on the Blood Type Diet by Joseph Christiano?

I bought the book today to check it out and I know 2 people that appear to have had amazing success with it.  I'd love to lose weight using this but would be happy if it would just help my digestive issues regarding certain food types.

Anyone tried it, know of it, or have any advice?

I was just reading about it on the website.  I'm Type O, and the description of my "type O" personality is pretty spot on.  And then it went on to say that Type Os should avoid wheat and dairy.

No pasta or cheese?  Eff that.

    Yay!  Mall Santas!

It's just that there's her birthday (the 9th), and then Hanukkah (mom's side is Jewish) and Christmas 3 weeks behind that.

I pretty much cut both of those out during pregnancy, and never really took them back up, so that's not SUCH a big deal.

But, I'm Italian.  Cheese and bread are in my blood, DAMNIT.

It's much more specific in the book.  Seperated into beneficial, neutral, and negative foods.  Most cheeses aren't beneficial for me (B) but the majority are neutral. The only dairy I should avoid are American, Blue, and string cheese as well as ice cream (which doesn't sit well in my stomach anyway)
  • I'd have to do some research on it but there is a new field of nutrition that bases your diet around your genes so I guess it could be okay. Give me a day or two to find some evidence based research and I will get back to you.

  • Perhaps I will read the book, then...  hmmm.  It can't hurt.

  • Apparently A types can't handle animal fats and need lots of carbs. Ugh, surprisingly I'm not a carb fan (unless it's in the form of chips).

I don't know. I don't think it would hurt to follow the guildines, but I also find it hard to believe that health is broken down so cleanly (at least that's the impression I get by the website).

A lot of stuff, but normal exclusion for type b include chicken, pork, black beans, lentils, cashews, sunflower seeds, artichoke, corn,, coconut, rhubarb, barley, rye, wheat breads, tomato, soda and a bunch of stuff I don't eat regularly anyway.

It seems very easy.  Not a lot of things actually cut out of my eating, just altered.

The Recommended foods certainly are nutritionally sound, everyday items.

Rub it in why don't you :P

I don't know, it reminds me of an experiment my friend was in. Take this diet pill, drink 8 glasses of water and exercise for at least 30 minutes daily (or else you would experience nasty side effects). Amazingly everyone in the study lost weight! Yeah, it was a sugar pill, it just forced everyone to exercise out of fear of "side effects".

No clue if this site <a href="http://www.chasefreedom.com/eatrightforyourtype.html" target="_blank">(link</a>) is legit, but it has some interesting thoughts.
