Morning

Morning!

I'm doing final packing/laundry/cooking today since we're in the final countdown to vacation. I'm even looking forward to the 7 hour drive tomorrow.

I also want to make a humane society visit. But I'll have to satisfy myself with just calling. An adorable little kitten found me last night. Huge puffy tail, not even 6 months old, and such a sweetheart that after she gobbled down some food, she cried at my feet until I picked her up. So she's at the humane society now but if she doesn't get found by her owner, I want her!

Re: Morning

  • Morning.

Im just about to head into work.  I got stuck with the longer shift so no peacing out of there at 1 or 2, lol.

I think my sister might come over with the kids to swim when I get out.

</div><div>nope.  I didn't think to take a picture.  I was too busy cuddling it.  ;)  She looks like my lucy cat only with swirls instead of stripes and the giant coon tail.  Way too big for her body.</div>
  • Aw Anna, at least you were there to help the kitten!  How did she find you?

Last night was my last late shift at my job, today is my last day! It's so surreal, it doesn't feel like it's my last day.

<div>I was just sitting outside enjoying the weather when I spotted her hopping up the path.  Literally.  Hopping from one stepping stone to the next.  Then she chased a few bugs, chased her own tail, sniffed all the flowers in my yard, and came towards me when I called.  She just wasn't acting like a cat use to the outdoors.  When she came to me, she darted into our garage and started playing around so I had my H grab a bit of food and water for her.  She gulped down about a 1/4 cup in no time flat and then decided we were her best friends.  Rubbing against our legs, crying at me to hold her, climbing all over my H.  A real doll-baby</div>
  • that is the cutest thing ever anna and your yard sounds gorgeous.

This sounds like a reason to <em>not</em> have a pool.
  • Oh my gosh Anna that story makes me want to go there and adopt her myself lol. How cute!  She's probably just a lost kitten if she was eating that much that quickly.

Ugh I wish H wasn't allergic to cats. A cat would be a perfect pet for us right now.

  • Well, not regular people.  Just the kids.  I like all the nieces and nephews.  Som e of their parents though... ugh
  • Morning! I'm home from work today, still in a bit of pain, so I'm taking Vicodin. I don't know how people can take these recreationally and still function. I take one and I'm out like a light, and then if I'm awake, I'm all loopy. It feels like I'm swimming through glue or something.

Not much going on today besides resting and playing around on Pinterest. We're having Mexican food night at our house with a bunch of friends tomorrow night, and I'll be making carnitas. I think I'll cook the pork shoulder roast today, then all I have to do is shred it up tomorrow and cook it in some diced tomatoes with green chiles. My H is super excited about it haha.

  • Thanks ladies! It's a recipe that I started making back in 2009 so that I could impress Will, haha. I pinned it to my Cooking board, in case you guys wanna check it out.

  • Heading out to the black hills.  We've been saving up for a while and have a gorgeous cabin we're sharing with my H's brother and his wife.

The shelter holds strays for 3 days before they become property of the city and then a few days after that for medical checks before they deem them adoptable.
  • Aww Anna, I hope kitty finds a great home (especially if it's yours).  And have a great vacation!

    Dot, what happened?

Mehg, carnitas are a cold weather staple for our house.  They sound so good right now but it's just too damn hot to cook them.  But thanks for the idea for lunch today (Chipotle's just down the street).

  • Kittens and Carnitas - rather nice!

FI called last Wednesday and said he rescued a kitten. We really cannot have a pet right now, and he was really not happy that he couldn't keep him! We found him a home with one of the women that works for me. She and her family adore him and have granted FI visitation!

I have never made carnitas, and it sounds really good. I bet FI would reallllly love that

  • Found pets  are the worst because my "save the poor baby" gene kicks in and I always want to keep them.  It's gotten so bad that I think the neighborhood birda consider our yard an abandoned baby shelter.  We've had 4 different baby birds in oour yard this summer.  Unable to fly, 2 were unable to feed themselves, and we have no mature trees so it's not like they just fell out of a nest.  My H says i have "sucker' written on my forehead that animals can see.
