Question about Pregnancy Photos

I don't get it.

I mean, I think getting pictures during the pregnancy is really sweet, especially if its your first one.

BUT, I don't understand some that I just saw (and have seen similar ones before)

I see a lot where girls lift their shirts up or wear an unbuttoned shirt, open at the belly.  Why?  You don't need to lift your shirt for us to realize your pregnant, it shows quite well with clothes on.

The photo I just saw.  Momtobe is completely naked, holding her boobs, and her husband is standing behind her completely clothed.  It sort of looks like he's giving it to her up the butt.

Did I mention its on facebook?

Re: Question about Pregnancy Photos

  • Ugh.  I don't understand why social norms change just because you have an offspring in your ute.  That pic would not be appropriate for a non-preg woman to take and post on FB, so why would it be ok for a pregnant woman to do it?
  • Eww that's weird!! Why would they put that on facebook?? Not okay.

  • I COMPLETELY AGREE.

The naked belly photos bother me. I get that you're pregnant and beautiful and confident and blahity blah, but come on. It's kinda weird. Sexual looking photos with your H? Even weirder. I don't want to picture the conception process, thank you.

  • My sister has a old high school friend who did these and some were so cheesy. The guy is a fire man and in one pose she is wear the jacket with nothing under and his hat and he's standing behind her with just the pants with the suspenders and no shirt.
  • I'm glad its not just me.  I was a little worried that someone would be like "You're a bitch, shut up!"
    Photobucket
  • My mom has some pregnancy photos but they are polaroid in her house. I do think it's fun to look at them though. She was this itty bitty thing with a HUGE baby belly.

I can see wanting to get photos to remember the time, etc, but yeah, the sexual ones are just a bit weird.

  • My whole thing is do you give them out to your parents or his. Do you put them up in  your house? I think I would feel weird if I had this half naked picture of me and FI's friends are over looking at it.

  • Yuck. I have two friends that recently did this and they gross me out. They are well done, but dear lord they are embarrassing.
  • Maybe they are just hormonal?

I also don't like the ones with the stupid heart shape with your hands pose.  LAME.

Exactly. I think our society has gotten a little crazy with the pictures lately.
  • The only pregnancy photos I've ever liked were the ones my friend had taken for her husband while he was deployed.  There were bare belly one's but those aren't on display in their home, just a few are framed.  I understood her reasoning for that, her husband was not there to experience the pregnancy but they were photos she had taken for him.

The sexual one's PPs are talking about is just wrong to me.  Some just weird me out.  I also really dont understand the reason why people feel the need to post them on facebook.
  • When I was pregnant I barely let anyone touch my belly, let alone take a picture.

Didnt we have a thread where someone linked a page to TB, and a  woman shared her b-pregnant pics. And they were just creepy.

Exactly there's one where she is wearing like this corset lingerie thing. With the thigh high nylons and garter thing. Her H posted the pics on FB too.
I plan on having maternity photos done, and I haven't decided if I  am baring anything, but IF I do, it will not be to post on FB or hand out to my family. For me, my body is doing some crazy, amazing things, and I'd like to document it. Believe it or not, I DO feel pretty sexy at times.  Not like b-picture sexy, but strong sexy. But, that's just me.
    Posted by mag920
I agree with you Mag.  I have not experienced the joy of being pregnant yet but I would like to document it when I am.  I do feel like it is a private matter that doesn't need to be broadcasted all over facebook.
  • I should clarify, the naked photo looks like they were going for artsy but just looks weird.
    Photobucket
  • I think the ones with clothes are cute. But I don't want to see any sexy pictures of people on facebook, pregnant or not. If we are friends, I don't want to think about your sex life.

I think that holding your shirt up underneath the belly gives plenty of information about how pregnant you are. I do not need to see your turkey-timer belly button or your stretch marks. Yes, they are natural, but I don't want to see a bear shiit in the woods either, and that's about as natural as it gets.

  • One of my fb friends has a pregnancy album and the first picture in it is of like 4 positive pregnancy tests. Yes, the pee on the stick kind. :(

No she had on some really frilly white panties, and garters. And there was a large old type stroller involved. They were sexy b-pics,while pregnant. It was very disturbing.

  • I hate the heart hand pose so much.  I REALLY hate it.

  • My final thought before I get to go to get ice cream is this.

If you want those photos, keep 'em private.  Unless you're fully clothed, those are cute.

  • I'm doing some pregnancy photos for a friend soon. So far I've got:
    no heart-hand pose
    no garters, frilly panties
    stay out of the firehouse.

Well damn, now I've got nothing.

Is it sad that I think I know what you're talking about? She was dressed like a 5 year old kid, but pregnant and had a bunch of props?

I mostly get disturbed if she is naked and the husband is standing behind her. That's not really showing how powerful or beautiful you are in my mind.
  • That sounds absolutely icky. I blame Demi Moore for the buck naked Vanity Fair cover when she was pregnant years ago for starting a trend of inappropriate images of pregnant people. If it is not okay when you are not pregnant, it is not okay when you are.

    Bluck. Frown
  • Stop talking about my maternity pics, Shelly.  ::sniffffffff::

  • Never in a million years would I show my pregnant belly to anyone in photos. I imagine if/when I do maternity photos, they would be like e-pics with a bump. No heart hand nonsense or anyone cupping my tatas. Yuck.

On the other hand, I'll give $10 to anyone who will do these awful maternity photos while not pregnant and post them all over FB. Bonus $5 if you label them "conception photos"
