Exciting news and questions!

So I just mailed out the deposit and scheduled our engagement session with Kristie Lemire! So excited! I love her, she really is great.

Next Saturday we have our tasting at Jacques Pastries. Has anyone used Jacques? I'm going into this blind (as i'm sure everyone is), not sure what do ask, what to expect. I don't really even know what I want in terms of style of cake. We were thinking cupcakes at first but changed our mind. Any one have some advice?

We got our wedding cake from Jacques. I actually just got off the phone with them confirming the delivery time for my cake at my wedding next weekend.  We met with Tom and he was great!! FI and I still joke that cake tasting day was the best day of our lives! Their cake is so yummy! We are having almond cake with amaretto buttercream and lemon cake with lemon buttercream...so yummy!!! Also, they can do anything with cake! We are having a woodsy/nature theme to our wedding and they are making our cake look like a birch tree! So, whatever you imagine, they can probably make out of cake! :)

As for advice, I would say, don't eat a lot before you go! They give you full sized slices to try! It fills up fast! They also have a book for you to look at to get ideas for the design you might like.  They also have a list of all of their cake flavors and fillings so you can get creative with what you want to put together.  Just have fun! It will be an easy appointment. They know what they are doing and they make it a great experience.  Good luck!

Jacques is AMAZING. Their frosting isnt wicked sugary/sweet which is why so many people like them. We booked our cake with them and I cant wait to eat/see it :) They have very good prices for the great quality you get. Have fun!

We also have booked our cake through Jacques- I didn't look anywhere else.  I grew up about 5 minutes away, so we've always gotten our special occasion cakes there.  They are incredibly professional, friendly, and helpful!

DHDaydream, I called them today to confirm MY cake for next weekend, too!  Funny!

We had a great time tasting, but left very full! It was helpful, at least for me, to bring pictures of cakes that I liked at least a part of (I made a collage).  I brought a picture of an icing pattern I liked on one, flowers I liked on another, etc. and pointed this all out to them.  They absolutely saw my vision and created a cake (on paper) that was made up of all of those things.  I have all the faith in the world that it will be perfect!  Have fun!

I LOVE Jacques cakes!!! I tried them for the first 2 years ago when I got a cake for my sisters graduation. I had just started watching cake boss - haha! The cake tasting was the most fun of all the planning! We are getting white cake with the amarretto butter cream frosting. Ours is part of our wedding package so I thought we were going to very limited in what we could choose but the were great - they have a book and if you go online lots of great ideas - anything in the classic wedding section was included and we were able to customize it to what we wanted . I picked a square bottom layer with round top two layers. I think it will be beautiful!!! We went at 10am and didn't eat breakfast... and weren't hungry for anything when we left. Just a side note on their great servie... when we were there for our tasting, there was a guy there who had ordered a cake for his parents anniversary. He got it home and someone dropped it - it was ruined. He went back just so get anything they could do. This was a Saturday morning in June - right in the middle of graudation season, and they went above and beyond to put something together for him. They are wonderful!!!

I'm also using Jacques and we also LOVED doing the cake tasting! I went in with an idea I found on the knot. Just looking at pictures was a great resource for me & you are always able to combine different ideas.

dhdaydream- We are also doing the almond cake with the amaretto. It is amazing, huh? :)

When I was looking for the perfect cake I just went through all the cake pictures on the knot to get an idea of what I would like.  Hopefully you find one that stands out for you as well. Good luck!

I love, love, LOVE Jacques!  We are almost definitely going with them, but we will be doing tastings at a couple of other places as well, just to be sure for ourselves.

They did the cake for my grandparents' anniversary party, and it was so flawless everyone thought it was fondant until they cut into it!  It was so delicious, people kept coming up to my mom to ask where she'd purchased it because they wanted some for themselves.

My parents have also ordered themselves birthday cakes from Jacques, and both came out absolutely beautiful!  We had one small problem with the frosting on my mother's birthday cake, and they were incredibly responsive, caring, and quick to resolve the issue.

We are using Jacques too, and it was amazing! They called me first to tell me the peonies were out, but were able to work with my florist to come up with a backup plan, then called me again to confirm everything that they did have a backup plan etc. and go over details, I can't wait to eat cake!! haha

For our tasting, we went in with an idea, and thats all you need, plus they let you change it - we switched one of our layers to the cake 2 months ago without a problem! So they are very flexible.
