So two things.. I wanted to vent about this yesterday because I got soo annoyed and just needed someone to talk to who might actually half a sh!t, but I got home so late I was too tired to post
I went to print invites yesterday. Btw, our paper didn't come in BUT a very similar one did and we went with that. Yay!
Back to the story, I went with FSIL and FMIL and I was already very stressed about printing, the paper, I had one hour to do everything and pick up FI etc etc. For whatever reason I pulled out test print of our invites and FSIL got a hold of it. As she's looking it over she says "Why did you use this font?" talking about the handwritten calligraphy font.
And she just hit a button. FI and I semi argued about this last week because he asked me the same thing. He said it looks "funny" as in joke ha ha funny. o.O I'm thinking WTF?! He said it's not a formal font, which I could agree. It's not formal but I'd say the whole package gets by as a semi-formal invite. Which is exactly what we're doing.. plus since it's a less than 100 ppl event, I want everyone to feel comfortable and have a fun, intimate event. FI said the way that the font looks handwritten makes the person go "huh! look at that! how interesting/ cute/ different.. or in his words funny!" I got really upset, thinking now I have to change everything again and in the end he reassured me the font is cute, different but cute and it will be just fine. So I figured whatever, he's just not up to date on things like this.
THEN FSIL asks her little question and I just answered "because I liked it." Then the discussion became how invites here are SUPER formal and this and that... and went on to begin correcting everything I had already made. I double checked everything with FI and she said that he was wrong and I had certain tiny mistakes. Ughhh! I was sooo pissed!
So now I'm considering changing the stupid font for invites here. Though I'm still on the fence about it because some friends of ours who aren't very traditional but their parents are, actually had real funny
hilarious invites. Cute little cartoons of themselves and lines worded in funny ways. So what's the big deal?! BUT on the other hand, I don't want to people doubling over with "laughter" with my invites *rolls eyes*. I wanted to give off a semi formal look. I don't like the super formal format that FSIL was talking about because I think it's boring and ugly. FI isn't completely into it either because he doesn't like doing typical things. And it annoyed me that neither FMIL nor FSIL made any comment on whether they liked it or not. Which hurts.. I made this myself!! And it was hard work! So anyway I don't know what to do about, sometimes I want to say SUCK IT and sometimes I want to change it.

ANYWAY... I'll be stateside tomorrow!! Yay!
I got the notification that my panel pockets arrived this morning so I'll be ready to assemble those b!tches when I get there
I reallly need to get packing but I'm soo tired from running around all week that I need a break. Plus it's a 6 hour flight to NY sooo I'm kinda thinking maybe I should stay up really late finishing everything and sleep on the plane haha. I know I'll be thinking about you guys along the way.. thinking "Oh so and so lives in this state, and so and so lives here!" haha
I'll be on a bit though over the next 2 weeks to update and probably post a pic of our finished invites. Basically because I'm a TK July board addict.
