Snarky Brides

Weather

Is the weather totally eff-ing sucking lately for anyone else? My god, it was 107 yesterday and of course, the a/c is broken in our store. Well, with it being that hot 3/4 of the towns' a/c are broken also. Ours isn't going to get fixed anytime soon. I believe it got up to 96 in here...I about died.

Anyone else? I just had to bitch, I hate this weather.

Re: Weather

  • It hasn't been too hot, but it has rained almost every afternoon for two weeks. I shouldn't complain, but I would really like to plan an outdoor activity later than noon.

  • It is hot, hot, hot here. I've been craving a snowstorm.

  • Some damn rain would be nice, if nothing else. But then our humidity would be out the roof. :P I'm ready for it to be over!

Its an evil cycle. We AC because its hot, making it hotter, making us use more AC, making it hotter... etc etc etc.

I think weve just become wimpy. People used to deal with summer heat wearing full skirt dresses.
  • Not quite that hot here, but humid as all get out. I hate humidity.
  • As I mentioned in the good morning post, it's so humid here that I had to use my windshield wipers even though it's not raining. It's grossly sticky. Thursday is supposed to be absolutely disgusting out.

  • It's in the upper 80s/low 90s, but the heat index puts it up between 105-110. I'm okay with it, but J works in an un-air conditioned shop. It's harsh. And we keep having these severe, severe storms at night that are flooding everything. Floodgates had to be dropped yesterday, and I'm surprised they weren't down today.

  • Yes. The high is almost 100 here. Our first session of obedience training for the dogs got canceled. I'm bummed.

Im not in the norm but I think this summer has been perfect, atleast where I live. Its been hot, theres been just enough rain so everything is growing and looks good, the mixture of the two has been amazing for my garden, and im enjoying it. Ive laid outside reading more this summer than I think I ever have in my entire life.

[QUOTE]Hot as hell here, too! High of 98 today and will feel like 105 with the heat index. I'm ready for fall so we can sleep with the windows open and not die of heat stroke!

  • High of 102, but the heat index is 105-113. I hate summer.

And did anyone else know that the heat index is based on temperatures taken in the shade? It seems like it would make more sense to base it on temps in the actual sun, considering most of us don't walk around in the shade all day long.

Ha! This is so true. We're in an "excessive heat" warning...don't believe I've ever seen that one. Hm. High of 104 today but tonight we have a 50% chance of thunderstorms, thank the lord!

I saw something on the news lastnight that normal concrete/asphalt had a temp of around 42C, but this new environmentally friendly stuff had a temp of 23C (both were in full sun.

I imagine the temperatures out would drastically decrease in city centers if the new stuff was used on a wider scale.

That's interesting...never knew that. They re-did our mall parking lot and I'm pretty sure they didn't use anything "new" because when we were walking across it, I'm pretty sure you could've baked a steak in 2 minutes flat on that asphalt.
  • Actually, it has been a really cold, crappy summer here. It was freezing when we went camping. I wither in the heat, but come on, where the hell is summer?

  • It's awful here, too. Supposedly we're getting a break on Friday, though. Dew points will go down to like 50! I can't wait. My poor window unit has been running non-stop since June it feels like.

Actually, as I type this, it's completely pitch black outside. creepy.

Honey, your summer is right here in Kansas! :)
  • It has only been in the high 80s (only?)here, but with terrible, awful dew points in the mid 70s. God, it's been like walking through a pool the air has been so thick. I seriously feel like I can splash the air at someone.

And betrothed, I'm disgusted with most of the comments that you have posted. I don't think I've ever read such judgmental comments in my life. I'm so lucky that the girls I speak to on theknot are nothing like you...I would've never come on here for ADVICE if I would've encountered a big a bitch as you. I genuinely feel awful for your children or your future children, and I think it would be irresponsible of YOU not to invest in their future therapy sessions starting now. Because trust me when I tell you honey, they're gonna need it. ~jcaruncho2010

  • Here, three. Temps not so bad, but the dew point is driving the heat index sky high. Then followed by a horrendous rain storm. After Sunday's totals (3.37 - 5.6), we were only 18 inches away from the record set in 1881. Now, it's 15. We got another 3-4 inches last night.

  • Been tolerable here in FL since we're in the rain for an hour every afternoon part of the year but my electricity bill was not very friendly this month.
