Snarky Brides

What the hell do I get these girls???

Ok so my BP is a mix of preppy, hipster, classy-hick (yea they exist), boho and simply styles. So BM gifts are a pain in the ass!
So far they are each getting a necklace & bracelet for the day of. Got a great deal on both! (helps that I sell jewelry as a side gig)
They are also getting engraved beer glasses and a bottle of local brew. I feel like I still need something else to go with I was thinking coach wristlets or something like that but I cant picture half of them using one.

Any ideas?

Re: What the hell do I get these girls???

  • If you can't picture them using it, don't do it.
Get them stuff you'd get them for their b-day
  • Well you don't have to get them all the same gift or same type of gift.

Just set a price limit for yourself and get each of them something close to that price range.

I would love a Coach wristlet... but I'm a Coach whore.  Not all girls love Coach as much as me :)

    When are you getting married?

    I'd love:
    Fall:           a great scarf-hat combo
winter:      toe socks, slippers, & a gourmet cocoa set
spring:      hair accessories, nail-polish, and a mani/pedi GC
summer:   a cd of roadtrip music, sunglasses & a smoothie shop GC

But, as I've mentioned before... I'm weird

#1 - if they are using the jewelry for your wedding, it's part of their uniform, not a gift.

#2 - shop for each of them individually, as if you were shopping for a gift for their birthday.  They don't need matching BM gifts.

  • I only got coach stuff for 3 out of 4 of them because the fourth doesn't like coach stuff and the gift is supposed to be about them...I also just bought stuff that was 'them'...one of my girls really like funky stuff, the other two are more traditional, I tried to reflect that.

I agree with PP about setting a $$ limit and then shopping for them as friends rather than WP members...
  • Ditto everyone else.

I also like the idea of gift/gift card combo.  Not everyone likes GCs, but I like being able to pick out my own thing.  Coupled with a cute gift (like in Anna's suggestion), I think it's personal and practical.
  • I got a coach ristlet, the size that fits I.D. lip gloss, money and a camera! The PERFECT gift!  That wedding was last Sept. and I use it weekly, still. :)   I have been in 8 weddings and this is the only gift I can even remember that wasn't, "suprise I'm letting you keep your wedding jewlery! your welcome!(its always tacky and crappy and you NEVER wear again. LOL)  So I know my girls are getting something good for sure.  What about a nice spa and get them a massage?  Good Luck! :)
  • I agree with the jewelry.  If you are requiring them to wear it the day of, its not a gift.

Like PP's said, shop like its their birthday.

This is exactly what I was thinking.

I got each of my girls a monogrammed canvas bag from The Knot store and filled them up with stuff that each of them will love.  I was stuck for ideas until someone else said "shop for them like it's their birthday"  then it was really easy!

  • I ditto PPs on shopping like it's their B-day.  Get them each something individual that they will love.

And betrothed, I'm disgusted with most of the comments that you have posted. I don't think I've ever read such judgmental comments in my life. I'm so lucky that the girls I speak to on theknot are nothing like you...I would've never come on here for ADVICE if I would've encountered a big a bitch as you. I genuinely feel awful for your children or your future children, and I think it would be irresponsible of YOU not to invest in their future therapy sessions starting now. Because trust me when I tell you honey, they're gonna need it. ~jcaruncho2010

  • I disagree to a point about the jewlery, I am giving my BM's a pair of pearl earrings and a matching pearl necklace, that they are not required to wear for the wedding. I don't think you could ever go wrong with something as classic as pearls, but thats just my opinion.

If it's not required, then it's a gift.  I agree with you on the pearls, classics never die.
