Whenever you got a message, it made that noise. It was wonderful and obnoxious all the same time.
Nebb- it must've been an 'up north' thing. That's all we used in WI, but when I moved to MN, everyone thought I was crazy. Glad it made it across the border too.
All I used when I was younger was icq, I think I was 12-17 during that time (26 now, not bothering to do the math). That sound brings me back, I cant believe I never turned that off.
Oh my gosh! ICQ was the bomb dot com! And I am in the south, so I don't think it was necessarily a northern thing. I did seem to have a lot of chat buddies in Canada though.
YES! And I recently went into a gas station and their register made the ICQ "Uh oh" sound when you got a message! It was like walking into the Twilight Zone.
