WR: Shoes

Hi All,

I guess I've offically outed myself this weekend. So I have a question:

I have the Cole Haan dyable shoes. Everywhere I take them won't dye them because I didn't purchase them there. So what are your shoe dying recommendations? I would like them to be cherry red (well cranberry red, but it's the same thing practically). I know Andy had the same shoes, but I don't know if she dyed them.

This is a post and run, but you can ask me anything if you want, too.

Re: WR: Shoes

  • Maybe you could find a local cobbler to do it? Just for shits and giggles, I googled local cobblers and found several who advertise shoe dying services on their websites.
  • Ditto on local cobblers.  Or what about DIY?  Granted, yours are nice Cole Haans and mine were el cheapos but I dyed my own with Rit and was pretty happy with the results.
  • My DYI skillz do not extend that far. I would ruin the shoes. I would probably make them back into a pig's ear or something. I will try the local cobbler, I'm moving tomorrow, so maybe the place I'm moving to has more options.

  • Me too, Kristi. When I first started my selfless and exhaustive google search, I came across a lot of cobbler recipes. I need to start making it. It's so easy and delicious. I'm 83% sure that if I made more cobbler, I'd get the wife and mother of the year award.
  • ditto cew. my sister made peach cobbler on Friday and made me crave it, but she lives so far away that I couldn't go over there and partake. I need to make some.

  • Must make this happen!
  • Here is the easiest peach cobbler you've ever seen:

1- 16 oz jar peaches with syrup
    2c- bisquick
    1/2 c milk
    2 eggs
    1/2 c sugar

Mix ingredients together on bottom of dish, poor peaches on top. Stick in oven for 45 min. Tada!!

I'm moving to Annapolis. The movers are here. I'm not doing a darn thing.
