I am a Blue Bell lifer. Their Homemade Vanilla is the best vanilla ever. Dreyer's slow churned comes in 2nd for me. I've never liked or understood the hype of Ben & Jerry's, except I did have one of the best malts I've ever had in their Vegas store.
This may sound a little crazy because I really love ice cream, but it depends. If I want comforting, simple flavors, I go for Blue Bell. For something more decadent with lots of flavors and mix-ins, I love Ben & Jerry's. But my "everyday" light ice cream is the Dreyer's Slow-Churned.
I don't buy ice cream often but Ben an Jerry's Phish Food is sooo good. It's chocolate ice cream with marshmallow, caramel, and pieces of fish shaped fudge!
I'm like Anna. Usually I go for Blue Bell. But if I want something that's richer and creamier I like Ben and Jerry's and Breyers. It just depends on the flavor and what I'm craving at the time. For instance, my husband loves Blue Bell's chocolate chip cookie dough but I think there are better brands for that kind of ice cream. I'll eat it, but I much prefer Braum's chocolate chip cookie dough to Blue Bell's.
Oh I love Braums! Their cookies and cream is the best. I like both Blue Bell and Ben & Jerrys...it depends on what flavor I am wanting. I really love the Ben & Jerrys Cake Batter.
We normally buy Blue Bell. I do love Ben and Jerry's Phish Food tho! LOL Now if it's not store bought, then Braum's Cappuccino Chunky Chocolate or Cold Stone's Oreo Overload!
I love Braum's. There don't seem to be any in the Plano/Frisco area--which is probably good for me. I used to get Cappucino chunky chocolate shakes and vanilla malts ALL the time in high school.
Right now I'm in love with Blue Bell's banana pudding flavor. It's delish. I also really like their Southern Blackberry Cobbler...pie crust in my ice cream? Yes please.
Mariah--That one is banana ice cream with whip cream swirled in and chunks of vanilla wafer cookies.
Steph--That could be very bad for me! It's hard enough resisting Chik-fil-a milkshakes..but now Braum's? Oy.
I need to stop thinking about junk food. I had Jack in the Box churros this afternoon and now I want ice cream. Oh, and Aaron told me that Schlotszky's sells Cinnabon "insides"--just the gooey part of the cinnamon roll in a cup with more goo. I really hope this is just PMS and that I wouldn't normally think to eat all this junk.
The best store bought ice cream is H.E.B.'s store brand. Their cookies and cream will knock Blue Bell's out of the water and their pumpkin pie and apple pie ice cream is soooo delicious! I really wish DFW would get an H.E.B.
Oh and I heard that Blue Bell manufactures it but it is HEB's recipe. Don't know how true that is.

<div>Banana, you took the words right out of my mouth. But I voted for Blue Bell, because it is a Texas classic. And yummy.</div>
Yes, if I have to move to a non-Blue Bell state, I will be very sad. I love the Blackberry Cobbler, too. I really need to try to Banana Pudding this summer, I somehow missed it last year. I have a feeling I need it in my life.

Edit: Whoops, Braum's wasn't an option. Oh well, it's still good.
