#4 Worst thing that can happen before the wedding

#4 is an arbitrary number and it is not super terrible but it is disappointing nonetheless. FI's BM flaked and is not coming to the wedding. He told us he had it under control and that he would be able to make it. Now he can't make it even though he said he would be able to and that it wouldn't be any trouble. He didn't even have the decency to call.

FI and BM have been friends for a long time. FI has always stuck up for him even though most people dislike or dont trust BM. In fact he was our roommate for 2 years.


The thing that hurts most is that everyone is probably gonna say "I told you so." It hurts me that he did this to FI.

I want to call and yell and scream but it won't help anything.

Oh gosh that is terrible!  I am so sorry.  Wow, and you only have 3 weeks to go--I didn't realize you were that close!    I hope he has someone else who can stand up with him.

That sucks!!!!!  While we all have that friend, I sure hope everyone else just keeps their comments to themselves so that it doesn't hurt your fiancee any worse than it already does.

Im sorry honey! Cheer up! I know its weird to say, but you know what, everything happens for a reason. Sometimes we don't know why or the reason...... but everything always works it self out the way its supposed to be.

Your wedding is still going to be special and stunning!

That is really disappointing, I'm sorry he bailed! I promise on the day of you both will be so thrilled that it won't even matter he's not there.

Oh no...I'm so sorry to hear that! What a crappy thing to do! I bet FI is disappointed.

At least you know that the people that are going to be standing up there on your day with you, will be true friends that you both can count on.

Wow, I'm so sorry.  That sucks!

However, try to look at the other side of the coin.   You guys will have the people who care the most about you up there on your wedding day.   Maybe its a blessing in disguise that this guy bailed.

Sometimes you can really find out what your friends/family are made of when a wedding rolls around.

Sorry to hear this. It's good that you have a plan B and C, but not so great you have to use them. I hope people keep their comments to themselves and you guys have an amazing day.

That would really bug me.  Esp if it hurt FI's feelings.  I'm sorry.  I know how stressful things already are - it being so close to your wedding.  Vent away!!

We got a mutual friend to be the BM.

When FI was talking to him, FI said, "Hope this isn't too short notice." Friend goes on to recount the story of the last time he was BM. The story is he gets a call 30 minutes before the wedding is about to start. The original BM showed up completely hammered and the groom was like he isn't walking with me.

3 weeks must be a long time in comparison to 30 minutes. :-D


FI and I are doing much better today. Thanks for the words of encouragement. :-)
