Snarky Brides

Obscure book help

I'm trying to remember the name of a book I read as a kid.  I'm not positive, but I think it takes place in a village in Africa.  The main character is a very good guy, so he gets a magic stick.  The stick makes his chicken lay lots of eggs, and I think it makes his cow give lots of milk too.  His neighbor steals the stick and doesn't say the magic words, so the stick beats him repeatedly until the good guy shows up and tells it to stop.I realize this is totally vague, but if you know what I'm rambling about or a place I can ask where people might figure it out, I'd appreciate it.

  • I vaguely remember this story.  I believe the main charater was Taye Diggs, and the magic stick was played by Boypart McFinehiney.  The bad guy stick stealer was Hugh Grant, and Boypart enjoyed the part where he got to beat all over Mr. Grant.  I remember that part especially well.  But don't think Mr. Diggs didn't get his share of beatings.

  • And now that I've typed it all out, I finally remember!  It's Akimba And the Magic Cow.

  • There's a group on Goodreads called "What's the Name of That Book?" and the members are amazing. They found some childhood books for me. Just post your description on there and someone should be able to help.
