Would you trust the muscial inclinations and talents of a piano teacher who doesn't know Beatles songs?  I mean, aren't the Beatles part of musical history, no matter how classical a training she may have received?

Like, she's never heard of the Beatles? Or she just can't play them on the piano?My piano teacher when I was young would help me with jazz piano stuff every now and then, but she seriously turned her nose up at anything that wasn't classical. I wouldn't be surprised if she couldn't (or refused to) play the Beatles. And she was brilliant.

Like as in I had her play Dear Prudence for me so I could get the timing down, and she never heard of it....ever.

Well, not knowing Dear Prudence is a little different than not knowing Hey Jude.

I would think this would be a bigger complaint against a guitar teacher.  A lot of pianists only do classical--period.  I know very few Beatles' song and like maybe 2.  I've never heard of the one you mentioned.

There are a good amount of people who have never heard of Dear Prudence, or who think Jerry Garcia wrote it. I think you should cut them some slack, musical talent has nothing to do with musical preferences.

oh, and thanks fallin!  to answer your question, i never feel sorry for anyone's H.  i occasionally feel sorry for someone's pet.  H's make their own choices.
