The Office

Can we talk about how awful it was last night? There were a couple funny moments, but it was so freaking uncomfortable and all I could think of was how in the real world, Pam would probably get fired or at least reprimanded. Did she turn into a total shrew upon marriage? I can't stand them now. They're annoying and not adorable.

Re: The Office

 • It seemed very out of character for Pam, which really bugged me.Dwight was the only redeeming thing in that episode.

 • I never thought I'd say this, but the awkwardness last night actually made me squirm instead of squee.  Of course the Dwight surprise at the end saved the day, and while I don't hate PB&J (especially towards the end when J makes her feel better), she did seem very shrewlike in her dealings with him.I cringed when J said he didn't have time to give the rum right then and P's all "do it anyway, c'mon lil doggie" to him.  NO PAM.  BAD PAM.

 • The Frank and Beans thing made me want to throw the tv out the window. I think you have to dispend belief about Pam screaming at Michael in the same way you have to dispend belief that there is no way in hell Michael or Dwight would still work there after all of the crap they have pulled together or individually. I don't like the Michael and Pam's mom thing. I cringed when they hinted at it at the wedding. The best part of last night was Jim messing with Dwight over the mallard. I was all excited because the Jim pranks on Dwight were always the best part of the show, but then it just fizzled. The old Jim would have kept that up for days.

 • also, I felt kind of bad for Michael.  and that's a rarity.  "don't I deserve to be happy?  I'm kind, I'm generous . . . am I so terrible?"  awww.  he's awkward but a nice guy at heart.  I'd totally let him bang my mom.

 • Agreed about Dwight. "Crack an egg on your head, let the yolk run down..."I've been watching a lot of eps on syndication and they're really making me realize how bad the show has been recently.

 • Frank and beans was not even remotely funny.

 • Ditto Bethie. There were some good episodes last season, but after Season 3 it's been so hit and miss.

 • Oh god, Franks and Beans was obnoxious. I felt bad for Michael too, but I really can't believe her mom didn't talk to her.

 • Pam's anger was funny to me at first but then got overly childish. The wedding was cute, but now I would like to see less Jim/Pam and more of everyone else, especially Angela.  "Some of us have to be our own grandmother" cracked me up a few eps ago.

 • I felt bad for Michael too, but I really can't believe her mom didn't talk to her.Especially since previously it had been inferred that they were really close.

 • And Michael's line about being her boss and possibly being her dad made me heave. I wouldn't want someone I worked with that had no personal boundaries dating my mom either.

 • I didn't even get through the episode last night. I thought I couldn't get into it due to being in a foul mood. So I watched the HR episode and Casino Night instead.

 • Especially since previously it had been inferred that they were really close. maybe that was with mom #1.  maybe she's not as close w. mom #2.

 • Some of the inconsistencies really bug me. For example, Jim saying something about meeting Pam four years ago in his wedding toast, except that the show started four years ago but they all worked there for awhile before that. How did no one catch that?

 • I'm a lurker, but just wanted to chime in.... I love The Office, but agree that it is not as good as it used to be.  This season and even most of last season don't hold up to the first 2-3 seasons, IMO. I would be PISSED if my mom dated Michael.  I liked that Pam stood up to Michael, but I do think it went on a little too long.  I think maybe they are going to play this off as "pregnancy hormones" or something....or maybe that she's more confident now that Jim is a manager.  I was just happy to see someone finally calling Michael out on his shenanigans because I think he gets away with too much.  He mostly means well but he is just ridic.
 • oh yeah.  I forgot Pam was pregnant and hormonal.  good chime in, lurker.  her actions now are making a lot more with the sense.

 • I didn't find the episode all that funny, but I didn't mind some of the things that bother you guys.  I WANT Jim and Pam to have a few more tiffs or at least get sassy with each other.  Corny lovey dovey cuteness is boring.
