I changed my name. I sort of wanted to do the Christin Oldname Newname thing, but when I called the license office they said I would have to do a legal name change through the courts to do that. Too much time and effort.
Because I'm dum and may not ever change my name- if you add his as a second last name does that mean you can switch back and forth willy nilly and use either one?
You can pretty much use any name as long as you are not trying to defraud anyone. I use both for offical documents since it is on my SS card and license, but otherwise, I use my maiden.
I changed mine but my passport, voter reg, and several accounts are in my old name. I found out when we bought our house that this means I have an alias! So I feel all crafty and stuff.
I changed mine. I wish I had just added his to mine with no hyphen. I know I can still do that, but while it bothers me, it doesn't bother me enough to go through the hassle of changing everything again.
I changed mine and use my maiden name as my middle name. Works for me, but that's because I like H's name. It's a little less common than my maiden name, but still easy to spell.

In theory

I've got baby mama drama goin' down over here and changing my name to be the same as hers makes me nauseated!!!So, this will be my 3rd marriage. I've taken 'his' name twice. I am a professional in my community with the second DH's name. I don't want to change my name, I like this one! It's a big deal to him, but his ex still uses his name and I just can't do it. It offends him that I'd keep my previous DH's name and not his... No way am I going back to my maiden name...In the end I think I'll keep my name and also go by Mrs. Briant (his last name) between he and I.And hey.... who changed their first name too?!?! I've always wanted to do that!

Thanks for the answers. Will probably keep my maiden name. Groom thinks it's an old fashioned thing changing name. Kids will probably have to go double barrell. Hmmmmmmm.
Don't change your name if you don't want to, but for the love, don't subject your kids to the double last name or hyphenated name. Is that really necessary?
I agree with Lindsay. It is like torture for my friend who has two last names, she hates it. She couldn't even fit it on her license! No one could say it right, so she cannot wait to be married and take her husband's name. I don't blame her. All together her last name is 21 letters long, not including hyphen. Stupid.
Both our last names are only 6 letters long, so it won't be some massive name. Both begin with M too so it should be fine. Not today's worry anyway - I'm getting ahead of myself here! ;-)
