  • poor thing :(  hopefully they'll be able to get some questions answered soon
  • I'm so sorry, Christen. That is absolutely unfair. Especially happening to a little baby like that. There should be a list of things that kids just don't have to deal with and growth disorders should be on it. If it helps, from volunteering in the schools and watching Bug and her friends, it doesn't seem like teasing happens the way it did when we were growing up. I don't know if it's greater awareness because of mainstreaming or anti-bullying programs, but it seems like those kinds of differences just aren't a big deal to kids these days. Last week we had to explain what "four-eyes" meant to Bug, even though she's worn glasses for years. I asked her if kids ever teased or made comments about her glasses, she looked at me like I was crazy and asked why anyone would want to do that. I asked her what differences kids do tease about- clothes? height? weight?- and she said sometimes about crushes or something like calling your teacher "mom" but that's about it. Of course grown ups don't always see everything, but I think there's a good chance your niece will be fine with her classmates.

"The meek shall inherit the earth" isn't about children. It's about deer. We're all going to get messed the fuckup by a bunch of cloned super-deer.- samfish2bcrab

Sometimes I wonder if scientists have never seen a sci-fi movie before. "Oh yes, let's create a super species of deer. NOTHING COULD POSSIBLY GO WRONG." I wonder if State Farm offers a Zombie Deer Attack policy. -CaliopeSpidrman
  • I am so sorry. That is awful
  • Aw, poor litte thing. I'm sorry Christin :( Hopefully catching it early will help with treatment.
