Dumb question

In addressing a post card, do you put a return address?  If so, on which side (left or right) does it go?

Re: Dumb question

  • I would say yes, and it should go on the right side with the address but smaller and leftier? maybe?  or you could just skip it all together, if you are sure you have a good address.  There's really no point to a return as long as you know the addy is good.

  • Since postcards are traditionally sent from those who are traveling and don't have an address, a return address is not required. Even if I was sending from home, I'd probably send without one.
  • Hmm. I never have put a return address on one. Is it the type where you put everything on one side of the card?  I guess you could squeeze it in on the top left side of the section you address, but I'd think it would be snug.

  • i agree with heather. usually the front of the card emblazoned with ALASKA! and a picture of a grizzly bear catching a trout suffices as a return address.

  • Yeah, I have never put a return address on one, but I do try to make sure I leave room for my name to be clearly seen.
  • I hope babygurl comes to ask what a postcard is.

  • now I'm GOL thinking about some poor mailperson searching Alaska for the grizzly holding the trout to return a postcard.  "No, no, it was a 7" trout.  You aren't my bear."

  • when i was little and used to send mail (pen pals and stuff), i used to be really really sneaky and i'd put the address of where i was sending it on the envelope AND where the return address goes.  that way, i figured, if there's not enough postage or something goes wrong, they'll send it "back" to the return address and it'll still get there.   i was an evil genius.

  • i bet the pictures are secretly coded so that the postal workers know. like all the secret freemason symbology on the dollar bill! bear in a babbling brook= south, calm stream=north; trout tail pointing up= taiga forest, down=glacier.it's all there if you know where to look!

  • um, that's brilliant.  From now on, I'm addressing all letters to myself, putting the address I'm sending in the "return" and leaving off the stamp.  ha!

  • Tasty, "You aren't my bear" is making me cackle.
