Cupcake recommendations

Looking for a recommendation for cupcakes in the Dallas area. Will probably need aroound 250. Any places you loved and do you remember the cost per cupcake? Thanks!

I think D magazine rates Society Bakery's cupcakes as the best.  I've never had them, but I have had their cake and it is delicious.  Not sure of the cost.

Edited: actually, it isn't rated the best by D Magazine, but it is still super yummy.

Edited again: The Dallas Observer rated them best cupcake :)

  • I don't remember the cost but I know Panini Bakery makes them because that was my original idea to do cupcakes and I called them--but it ended up being to difficult to find a cupcake tower, so I went with a cake with Ruth Robbins.

Most cake people do cupcakes too, so don't limit yourself to cupcake bakeries, which can also be pricey. You can always do a cake tasting. Yums.

My baker, the Cake Guys does them.  Their website says "wedding cupcakes" are $3 each--but I wonder if you could get away with just saying they are for a party, in which case they are $2 each. It also says they offer discounts after 10 dozen.

They sell cupcakes for $1 M-F from 3-6 and all day on Saturday at the Uptown location.  That would be a good way to try them and see if you like them.  I've had them and thought they were delicious, better than Society.
  • I'm actually not a huge fan of Society (fighting words, I know).
I would do a regular baker, like the ones girls use for their cakes, and price them for cupcakes. I feel like a cupcake boutique will just overcharge.

Ditto this. While I love me some Sugar Box and Sprinkles- they are just so darn expensive. A regular baker might be able to give you a lower cost and do just as great work!

  • Society is by far my favorite. Sprinkles always seems too dry, like it's already 3 days old when I buy it.

</div><div>This.  I'm a huge cake/cupcake snob though so there's that.  Society wins in my book by a landslide.  I don't think Cake Guys charges much less than Society, but they are a good option as well.  Otherwise, check with Ruth Robbins.  We love our wedding cakes that she did for us!</div>

  • I've had many a wedding cupcake and my ABSOLUTE favorite is GiGis cupcakes.  They pack on the icing and they are all sooo moist.  It's phenomenal.
  • Creme de la Creme. They make my mouth SING!!
  • ...And now I'm hungry for cupcakes.

  • Society is amazing-- they get my vote. It sounds like you need to schedule some taste testing just to be sure.
  • When I contacted Society, they are no longer doing weddings. I did find the most amazing place tho...Sugar Queen Cupcakes! They have locations in Plano, Frisco, Lake Dallas, and Denton. Her cupcakes are huge and 27.50/dozen. But if you order 5 doz you get a doz free! Check out her website & do a tasting. I promise you won't be disappointed! I don't even eat sweets & I am in love! Also, I have a coworker just starting out her business. She's on Facebook & it's called Classic Cravings. I plan on having her for my rehearsal. Good luck!
  • I love cupcakes cubed in Frisco and Gigi's. They are both amazing. In semi related news, did anyone hear Kidd Kraddick talking about cupcakes yesterday AM? I was craving one SO bad after driving to work!
  • We are doing Sprinkles.
