Parent Gifts

Any ideas for parent wedding gifts? Something other than the typical monogrammed keepsakes?

I did a DIY photo album of our wedding pictures for my husband's parents.  It was pretty expensive but then I did a regular photo book (like a guest book) of our pictures for my mom for Mother's Day and she loved it.  Obviously this is something you would have to give them after the wedding, however.

We are doing the same as Stephie- albums of the wedding after the fact.  We are giving them a nice card at the rehearsal dinner telling them we are doing this.  I think my mom would throw something at me if I spent too much money on her during this time with so much outflow of money- lol.

I kind of want to give my parents a gift certificate for one night at a resort/hotel they love. Their wedding anniversary will be a month after my wedding, so ideally they can use it then.

But my situation might be unique - the last year I was living at home, they had booked a night away for their anniversary, but I got really sick (food poisoning, probably) and they ended up taking me to the ER instead. The hotel wouldn't give them a refund on their money, so this is probably long overdue
