[QUOTE]I can be pretty judgy, so I'm the best one to answer this question. But I DO hate when people wear Chucks to their own wedding. It's your OWN WEDDING.

My FI is wearing Chucks at our wedding because dress shoes make him look like a sap. Damn, I guess he just doesn't love me enough. Shiit.

That is ridiculous. Has he tried on every dress shoe in the world? There's a happy medium between canvas sneakers and something that's at an appropriate level of formality. Unless he's also wearing shorts or jeans. Chucks aren't even that comfortable, so I don't buy that excuse.

Wow, really? So it's ridiculous that he wants to wear a certain kind of shoe for our wedding? Ya know, the wedding that is well...his? Life's short, GTFO your high horse.

Okay, I really don't care if he wears Chucks.  I've actually seen some cute pics of this.

BUT, dress shoes make him look like a sap?  REALLY?  Would he wear Chucks to a funeral?  A black-tie wedding?  A job interview?  Court?

    I'm genuinely curious.

Wow, the point really flew over your head huh? No he wouldn't wear them to either of those. He wears dress shoes to work every day because that's what's appropriate. But it's OUR wedding and therefore WE set the dresscode. He wants to wear chucks and a suit and I think it will fit the formality of our wedding perfectly. If someone wants to wear a paper bag to their wedding, fine. It's not your wedding, it's not affecting you in any way, shape, or form, so get off it and move on. Not trying to be a bitch, but when people start trying to dictate what a person should wear to their OWN wedding, that's just ridiculous.
  • Oh and Expat, I see you live in Dallas as well. I drive by the courthouse everyday, and trust me, it would be an upgrade (though still way off the ball) if people here would wear chucks to court.

Yes, I've seen the courthouse and it's scary.  Chucks would be a major upgrade ;)

To each his own regarding wedding attire.  I draw the line at grown "men" wearing sagging jeans.  You may draw a different line.

But it just seems strange to me that dress shoes - which he wears on a daily basis - make him look like a sap.  And that you apparently agree.  That's all.
  • They just don't fit his personality, and he has incredibly bad taste in dress shoes to boot. Sap probably wasn't the best word. Uncomfortable is more like it. But yea, in regards to the jeans, that's a little ridiculous. But meh, whatever makes people happy.
