TGIF!

How is everyone? Hopefully there's not another morning thread somewhere that I can't see.  I have today off of work (we always have a holiday the Friday of Spring Break.)  I need to do a ton of stuff today, but I don't want to get off the couch.

I AM however getting my hair dyed at noon. It desperately needs it, but I was waiting until 2nd tri at least. I'm surprised I held out this long. I'm planning on a massive spring clean too, since it's supposed to be 80 (EIGHTY!) all weekend.  Windows, screens, dog baths, clutter, everything. I might even take the risk of packing up our winter stuff.

Re: TGIF!

  • In about two hours, barring anything unfortunate, we will own our first home!

When you're done with your spring cleaning?  Want to come do ours?  And start packing for us?

  • Happy Friday!

We finally got some of our kitchen cabinet doors installed yesterday.  It took a while, but I'm realllllly happy.

I know I've said this before, but tonight we're really going to order appliances.  I'm going to print off the lowest prices now.  Thank goodness for price matching!

[QUOTE]J congrats! <strong> I remembered it was close your your closing date.</strong> Not too much happening here.  I'm thrilled it's Friday though.

That's amazing, because I almost forgot.

Also?  This time next week I will have seen The Hunger Games.  I wonder if I'll be sad after it's over because I've been so excited about it for so long.  I'll just have to find something else to be excited for.

  • It was going to be the 23rd, Edie, but we moved it up a week.  I'm going to be SO HAPPY to be done dealing with the seller.

  • Sounds like you and I will be having a similar weekend, Steph!  Unbeknownst to know H, we will be tackling every single room in the house and getting rid of shiit that has not been used in the last six months to a year.  I have the declutter bug big time!

I have a meeting today at 9:30 through lunch and after that I am peacing out of here to go get my ipad.  Excited!  On a sad note, I had my first emotional moment about leaving this morning.  One of the very few people that I really really like came in to say he'd heard the news and was happy for me but so sad.  I kept it together while he was here but damnn that was hard.

    Have a great day, everyone!

Oh and I completely don't like TK on my iphone now.  They apparently now have a mobile site and there are no sigs so I have no idea who anyone is, and it never displays the entire thread name.  ANNOYING.  Now my lazy asss will actually have to drag out my laptop to get on TK at home ha.

  • Shay, the new mobile site is gross.  It deletes punctuation that isn't a period or comma, and gets rid of paragraphs even if you put it in.  And you can't edit.  And all the crap you said too.

  • EEK! YAY J! It's one of the best (and scariest) feelings. Seriously. I remember walking into our house for the first time without our REA and going "holy shiit. This is ours."  You're going to have so much fun making it a home. :) Let me know when I can invite myself over for a tour.

Edie, Nebb said the same thing... but it looks the same to me still?

And yay raynes! what'd you decide on?
  • That's how the TB mobile site has been for awhile. It's like they're taking the WORST of all three sites and combining them.

Try Opera Mini or Mobile and turn off java (or disable 'mobile view')... that should help with the sigs. It still doesn't let me do paragraphs though.

Shay- that's my plan too. We tackled the basement last weekend, so hopefully the rest of the house won't be bad. H is going to have a few friends help move all the stuff from the office to the basement. You know, so we can start getting the room ready to be a NURSERY. holycrap.
  • Yes, it's stupid and I hate it.  I was perfectly fine viewing the full site on my phone.  And it looks like it only displays a few replies on each page so there's a shitton more pages to each thread.  Maybe I made that up, but I feel like it's true.

  • oohhh thanks Edie. I see that now. I just noticed that the home page hadn't changed.
  • Good Morning!

I'm barely awake this morning but hopefully I'll perk up sometime soon.  I have a professional development workshop at 11 so I'm just hanging out at home this morning and being lazy.

Good luck with the closing J!

  • Yay J!

Steph, I'm pretty jealous about your weather!

I think the weather here is going to be a repeat of the beginning of the week (when I was holed up in the bathroom thus not able to enjoy it) starting this weekend.  I'm pumped.  I haven't run in almost 2 weeks because my foot hurt and then the whole sick thing so I'm hoping to make up for it this weekend.  I'm tempted to do a 5K on Saturday OR go with half the state of MA to Southie for St. Patty's festivities, because surprisingly I haven't ever gone.

  • ha, shay. No. We'll probably paint it a pale green of some kind, so it's a safe color.  I think we'll wait until after the u/s to pick out bedding and stuff. April 17th can't come soon enough!

Shay, are you getting the brand new iPad?? I can't wait for birthday money so I can buy a new Kindle. :)
  • J, yay for house day!  Also, yay for Hunger Games in a week!  I'm going to need an aisle seat, but hey, I'm going damnit.

Steph, we're going with a mid-range set from Samsung.

  • Fun, I was just elected to handle all of the safety issues with our lab before our inspection at the end of the month.  It is like pulling teeth to get people to comply.  There is a yearly quiz with stupid questions that are basically like:

What do you do if you see an uknown powder on the ground?
    A.  Eat it
    B. Rub it in your eyes
    C.  Call the proper EH&S authorities for cleanup
    D. Ignore it

It took 3 weeks for people to take the quiz last time and eventually I set up a computer in our lab with MY printout with all of the answers next to it and put a copy of it on the desktop.  Let the fun times begin...

  • Today is one year to the day that I lost one of my best friends to Evans Syndrome. I thought it would get easier but I feel like it's happening all over again. I don't know why it's hitting me so hard today.

I'm sick to my stomach like crazy. I just want to puke and go to sleep. Unfortunately it is not because I'm pregnant, and today is also the definitive answer on that one. It turns out my cycle is 32 days this month, which is weird.

I have to work this weekend and miss the St. Patrick's day celebrations. And I have already worked the entire week. I am on my 7 day stretch. I can't wait to be off Monday.

    On a lighter note...

Yay J is closing, that's so exciting. Congrats.

This week has been incredibly busy at work so I am thrilled it's Friday. The day hasn't started well but I can handle it knowing we're going to the beach this weekend! FH's family has a place on the Eastern Shore so we'll be taking it easy and eating seafood for the next two days.

As much as owning a home terrifies the crap out of me I would love to be able to decorate and renovate a place to my liking. We're allowed to do whatever we want to our current apartment (within reason) but there just seems no point when we don't own it.

My crazy mother put over $10k into a house she was renting. She later got evicted and lost all the money she invested.  It was a rent to own but still a terrible idea. One of the many experiences that soured me against home ownership.

  • Morning!  Congrats on the house, J!

It's supposed to rain today but then be pretty this weekend.  It's been in the 80s here since Tuesday.  I'd love to do a real house cleaning day, but H is working and my dad and Granny are coming to visit.  Even if they weren't, I always feel like I get a ton more done when H is around to help.

We started getting our garden ready last weekend, and daddy's bringing a tiller down, so I'm not really complaining.
  • Morning ladies!

H comes home today, we have so much to do this weekend. We ahve our flights and hotel set for next week. I'm excited, but anxious too. I have to spend 3 days on my own and not sure what I'm going to do with myself.

I really need to do a deep clean so I can come back to a clean house.

Steph-Make sure to take pictures of the baby's room!

  • So... Here's a fk'd up way to start a Friday... A woman I know through work miscarried her baby last night. Sad. I feel very bad about it. But! She posted a picture of the dead baby on fb. She was somewhere around 5 months along. The caption was something really fk'd up to. Did I mention this is the second time she has miscarried and posted the photo? I'm not sure what is going on in her head. I mean it is a terrible tragedy, but to post photos on fb?

  • Kd you're going to London right? I was there about 6 years ago and loved it. I'd be happy to give you a few recommendations. Most of the museums are free which is awesome.

I am waiting on a patient to show so it may be a while before I write out the recs.

<div>Oh my gosh that's terrible.  The FB posting, IMO, is definitely crossing the line.  I'd say the whole experience of miscarrying a child is pretty traumatic so maybe she was doing it without really thinking... but since this is the second time I don't know.  To each his own I guess... I mean, the Duggars named their miscarried child and did the whole funeral thing, but at least that wasn't so in your face like FB.  Yikes.</div>
  • Wow, crn.  That's... there aren't really words for that.  Block?

Well, she is a bit crazy pants anyway, but she is coming to my wedding. At someone else's wedding, six months ago she started a big screaming fight with her husband and announced she wanted a divorce and the baby wasn't his. Should be interesting to see what she does at mine. My doc said she'd be escorted out if she started anything. I feel really bad about their child, and especially for her husband who is a complete sweetheart! Yeah. What a way to wake up. Eta: the first one... Not this one.

Yes, we are in London for 3 days, then Oxford. My H has to work Wed, Thurs, and Friday in Oxford, so I'm on my own there. I heard from some of his colleagues that there is a tour I can take while there. Then it's back to London Saturday so we can fly out Sunday.

We have a 6 hour layover on our way back in Newark, so I'm trying to round up some NJ knotties for a quick visit.
