Re: Dinner is taking forever, so...poll!

• I'm cooking dinner too, bean counter chowder. It smells soooo good, I can't wait for the final 25 minutes to be up.

1. If you could have any job in the world, what would you be and why?
I think everyone here knows the answer to this.

2. What's your favourite place to read a book?
Outside. At my house, out on the dock to watch the river happenings.

3. What's your most-loved possesion?
Bear Bear. My mom bought him before I was born for my first Christmas. We were dirt poor (like, going hungry poor) so she put it on layaway where she worked and paid for it over the course of a few months. It was so important to her and I slept with that thing until it started to fall apart. I even took him to Disney. Now he sits on a shelf.

4. What's the scariest dream you've ever had?
I have frequent nightmares, revliving past events. They are always scary.

5. How many pillows do you sleep with?
One.

6. Who's the one person you wish you could meet (Alive or dead)?
W. Michael Gear. No, Crazy Horse. Or Jesus, to determine whether or not he was a real person.

7. If you could go back in time and witness any historical event, which would it be and why?
The Trojan War, to learn what REALLY happened.
• Slow down guys, I'll go first.

1. If you could have any job in the world, what would you be and why? Foresnics. I would CSI that sh*t up. Always had an interest in it, but I don't think I'd actually be able to deal with death that much.

2. What's your favourite place to read a book? Curled up on one of those couch/bed things I can't remember the name for. Daybeds? With plenty of pillows.

3. What's your most-loved possesion? Probably my little crystal dragon FI bought me for Hallowe'en. It was a really sweet gesture to show me how close attenion he paid =)

4. What's the scariest dream you've ever had? I was standing in some weird forest/Toronto-esque city, and FI told me he was leaving me. He took off on a train, and I tried to follow him, but wound up in a maze, super lost. I hate hate hate feeling lost, and this was like 5 different kinds of lost.

5. How many pillows do you sleep with? 4, and a body pillow.

6. Who's the one person you wish you could meet (Alive or dead)? Napolean. I don't know why, but I would.

7. If you could go back in time and witness any historical event, which would it be and why? Hmm, I honestly can't think of anything for my own question. Probably something like Sesh's.

1. If you could have any job in the world, what would you be and why?
I love my job, but I would either be in fashion publishing or I would love to be a cultural anthropologist.

2. What's your favourite place to read a book?
Snuggling on the couch with my dog and a blanket. But i pretty much read anywhere.

3. What's your most-loved possesion?
My dog :). And my grandmother's engagement/wedding ring set. And probably my wardrobe. (I'm clearly having trouble choosing)

4. What's the scariest dream you've ever had?
When I was about 13, I had this crazy dream about a psycho leprechaun (I think when the movie came out) and all I remember is that I finally caught it and was strangling it, only to find out that I was strangling a black kitten. It was so disturbing and I felt such grief over strangling this kitten. I've never forgotten that dream.

5. How many pillows do you sleep with?
One, sometimes two.

6. Who's the one person you wish you could meet (Alive or dead)?
Hmmm, I don't know. Probably Jesus or Nathaniel Hawthorne. I'd love to pick their brains. And Paul Rudd and Jimmy Fallon, but not for talking :)

7. If you could go back in time and witness any historical event, which would it be and why?
I think I'd love to be around during the Revolutionary War. I think there would be a very cool patriotic vibe going.

Pasq: What do you do right now? If you've mentioned it lately, I wasn't paying attention, so I apologize if this is redundant.
• I'm an English teacher and I'm in grad school for my ESL license.

Don't judge my poor spelling/grammar when/if I'm posting frequently :).

• 1. If you could have any job in the world, what would you be and why?
A forensic scientist, medical examiner, or FBI profiler. Then a famous painter on the side.
2. What's your favourite place to read a book?
In a hammock. In real life, either the couch, by the pool at my parents' house, or in the bed.
3. What's your most-loved possesion?
My 3rd one is my rabbit, Poor Baby, I've had since my 2nd Easter. He's in my hope chest. I'm not saying my 1st one, and my 2nd one of course would be my wedding ring.
4. What's the scariest dream you've ever had?
As a 12 year old, I saw The Shining in the theater with 2 other girls - 14 and 16. We were terrified. We were alone in the theater, until a man came in and sat in the aisle directly next to us - right as the naked lady got out of the bathtub. Mortifying.
That night, I dreamed my dad got on a plane to come get us with an ax (we were moving from NC to GA, and he was already in GA). He HATES it when I tell that story.
5. How many pillows do you sleep with?
Sometimes one, sometimes two.
6. Who's the one person you wish you could meet (Alive or dead)?
Jesus, Abraham Lincoln, or Stephen King.
7. If you could go back in time and witness any historical event, which would it be and why?
Hmmm. The Revolutionary War or World War II? I would have liked to have seen my grandfather as a pilot and my ancestors fight to establish this country.

• 1. If you could have any job in the world, what would you be and why?
Something like the red cross, where I can aid ppl living in third world countries.

2. What's your favourite place to read a book?
At home on my bed or on the couch.

3. What's your most-loved possession?
I would have to say my dad's keys. My dad passed away 12 years ago yesterday and I have his set of keys. They are just sitting in a drawer but they moved with me at least 4 times. They are rusted and old but I can't part with them.

4. What's the scariest dream you've ever had?
I can't remember scary but I guess this is funny. I had a dream that FI and I had a baby girl and she was super hairy, that I started to cry really bad because she was so hairy.

5. How many pillows do you sleep with?
I have 4 on our bed but I sleep with one regular size pillow and one of those travel pillows you buy at the airport, they are a U shape.

6. Who's the one person you wish you could meet (Alive or dead)?
I know most ppl would say famous ppl but I would just want to see my dad again.

7. If you could go back in time and witness any historical event, which would it be and why?
I honestly don't know. Those so many to choose from.
• Oooh, Missy! Much love for the first two answers, I completely forgot about how awesome hammocks are.

• 1. If you could have any job in the world, what would you be and why?
I'd be an art history professor at a really good school, which is what I'm hoping to be anyway.

2. What's your favourite place to read a book?
On a cold day, under a blanket, with a cup of tea and plenty of light.

3. What's your most-loved possesion?
I try not to place too much value on my possessions - maybe some of my kitchen things?

4. What's the scariest dream you've ever had?
I don't tend to remember particular dreams, but I hate it when I have dreams about losing the people I love.

5. How many pillows do you sleep with?
Two.

6. Who's the one person you wish you could meet (Alive or dead)?
Harpo Marx.

7. If you could go back in time and witness any historical event, which would it be and why?
I'd like to witness the sculpting of the Laocoon so that I could find out who made it.

Wouldn't it be nice to live together in the kind of world where we belong?
• 1. If you could have any job in the world, what would you be and why?
- I think I'd want to own a successful bar/restaurant or be a photographer.

2. What's your favourite place to read a book?
- Pretty much in bed. I just need it to be quiet.

3. What's your most-loved possesion?
- This is tough. It's kind of a tie between my box of old photos, my laptop, and my engagement ring.

4. What's the scariest dream you've ever had?
- I had a dream that my Mom died, that was pretty bad. The only other one was when I dreamt that I was sitting in my old bedroom at home and my grandfather was outside walking the dog. He was outside my window yelling at me to get out of the house because it was going to blow up. I got up to try to run and it was like my feet were glued to the floor. I kept trying and trying and then the house blew up and I woke up.

5. How many pillows do you sleep with?
- Two.

6. Who's the one person you wish you could meet (Alive or dead)?
- I'm really not sure about this now. I'll come back and edit when I figure it out.

7. If you could go back in time and witness any historical event, which would it be and why?
- The prohibition. I'd really like to see how I'd react to not being able to drink alcohol freely and openly.

• The Shining kills me every time.

On a somewhat related note, FI is slightly annoyed/amused that I want to see The Last Exorcism because movies about possesion always freak me out. Then I have to have all the lights on, am afraid of going outside alone, etc. I'm such a baby, but I can't not watch them.

I know what you mean. I always get nightmares, but I just have to know. As long as they're genuinely scary and not just gore-y.
• Me, too. I hate the gore-y ones. Saw did nothing for me, except make me sick. I'm more into psychological storylines.
• For those of you who didn't list your current job as your dream job, why are you doing your current job instead of your dream job?

Good question. I kind of look at a dream job as in a perfect world it would just work out and be easy and fun.

I love what I do now as a career, but I do not like my job. the place where I work is dreadful.

• Sarah#s! Welcome back! Mine is because a) I realized even as a profiler I'd have to pass the physical for an agent and in high school/college - that was NOT gonna happen. b) I have the attention span of a gnat - thank you, ADHD. c) I saw a special once about coroners in LA County and one gave a description of scenes and that did me in. It had nothing to do with gore.

I DO paint, and I sold one whole painting to a college friend ("Gin Money til Graduation" was the title, heheh), but I do it for fun and therapy. I haven't painted in years.

Your event to see reminds me of the book From the Mixed Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler - did you ever read that?

• I haven't read that book, Missy, but it's pretty appropriate for that historical event, because there's this crazy/awesome conspiracy theory going around that the Laocoon was actually a forgery by Michelangelo! I'd like to know the truth either way.

• Ricks, if it makes you feel better, FI looked over my shoulder and was like, "I'm not your favorite?" I said, "Do you see yourself as my possession?". And he said no, but it was reluctantly. So I guess he wants to be my favorite possession.
