Snarky Brides

Two flaky vendors have no idea their lives are in jeopardy...

I cannot understand why, if I am offering to bring a large crowd into your restaurant and bar during the tourist off-season, it seems like a great idea to neglect to return my phone call or reply to my emails reagrding reservations and prices. I know that there are limited options in our neck of the woods, but effing seriously.  This is a recession, folks. I think you'd want some business. I would like to order my invites and finish my budget. And I can't unless you vendors email me back. I. Will. Cut. You.
Just needed to vent.

Meh. It could always be worse.

  • Oh, it definitely could be. But since it's the worst thing going on with this planning (other than the seemingly million DIY projects that are sitting on the floor in the spare bedroom, glaring at me) I thought I could use a moment to whine about it. I'm in an office full of men... not exactly the best place for wedding feedback :)

    2.  How long has it been since you left a messaged or emailed them?

And betrothed, I'm disgusted with most of the comments that you have posted. I don't think I've ever read such judgmental comments in my life. I'm so lucky that the girls I speak to on theknot are nothing like you...I would've never come on here for ADVICE if I would've encountered a big a bitch as you. I genuinely feel awful for your children or your future children, and I think it would be irresponsible of YOU not to invest in their future therapy sessions starting now. Because trust me when I tell you honey, they're gonna need it. ~jcaruncho2010

I would move on. Can you imagine if they do sign you, and right before the wedding they start acting like this?

  • True, an office full of men is not the best option.  I'm moody today so I'm probably not the best person to commiserate with

  • Go in person.  Make phone calls.  Also consider, if they're crap now, they'll be crappier after you book them.

  • Hmmm... I emailed/ called them about three weeks ago. I got a reply from each that said they would get back to me, and then last week I got back in touch with them telling them that I needed the details in order to order invitations, etc.... but nothing.
The vendors are not places that traditionally do wedding related things, so I think  maybe they are thinking that the date is far enough off that it doesn't matter.
My best friend has dealt with both vendors for private parties in the past and it worked out great... I am just wondering how to light a fire under some asses without pissing them off.

This.  If they are too busy/unorganized/not interested in dealing with you in the planning stage, then I would fear that they would be too busy/unorganized/not interested for my event.
  • Call and ask for the manager.  Make them give you a date for when the information is due.

  • I think I will call and maybe set up a phone appointment with them. If they can't have their act together for a simple phone appt, then I will have to break up with them, you ladies are right. I don't want them to ruin the actual wedding day, especially if I have clues that they aren't on top of things at this early stage.
  • I hate when people say they're going to cut someone. It really bothers me.

Other than that, ditto PPs about going in person and getting dates for info. I have nothing useful to add.
  • I'm concerned that you feel their lives are in jeopardy....

Thank you, Knot Gods.  I was in a state this morning, even going so far as to pray for another power outage so that I could stay home, and this made my thread.  I LOVE when people define snark for me.

ETA: hehe, I meant this thread made my day.  I am tired.  Also, I find the OP to use the most snarktastic snarcasm in the world.  Wasn't the snark from "Jabberwocky"?

I guess I'll join Jen in the corner for sharing my thoughts. Wanna come? We're snarky over in our corner.
  • I would love to be in the corner.

    Is there food?

  • Of course there's food. We have the non-flaky vendors in our corner.

Yeah, OP, if you were threatening to cuttabitch because of an unreturned message, I would not want to deal with you either.
