Just for comparison, I live in the middle of nowhere close to a really small town and this is what $145,000 will buy you:

Yep.  If we stay in this area, I don't see affording a house any time soon.

Yeah it's really crazy.  I alway am shocked when I'm watching House Hunters at what a certain price will get you in places. I couldn't imagine living in a big city where everything costs so much..I mean most companies will pay you more to help make up for it but still.

You could maybe buy a 1br condo in the gross area or a house that is condemned in my town.

<div>I like that line of thinking. Although, even with the market down, it's still kind of sad what you get for the money.</div>

  • As a NYer looking to move to a new rental soon, housing prices make me want to cry.  Our neighborhood is cheap compared to many others, and if we're lucky, we'll find a 2 bedroom apartment for $1500/month.

Speaking of houses, I have to go work on getting things ready to pour our basement floor tomorrow. Have a good night ladies!
  • I am really thankful for where I live right now. You Boston/NY ladies are making me cringe.

  • My sister and her husband have some property, and they went to get a loan to build a house.  Although they have great credit, they wouldn't give them a loan to build, but they are going to give them a loan as twice as big as they would need to build in order to buy.  I think it's a shame, since now they can't be in the area they want.

  • Hello! Just got home from the Orioles game. Our third this season and the third win. Obviously the owner needs to buy us tickets for each game.

This years May the fourth promises to be much more exciting than Cinco de Derby.

Always fun to go to a game, even more so when it's a win!  Camden Yards is a gorgeous park.  Going to every major league park is on my bucket list.

We drove down from NYC two summers ago for an interleague game...Mets vs Orioles.  That park is beautiful.  It's an oven though.  There's no breeze at the seats so we walked around most of the game so there would at least be a bit of wind generated by moving.
