Snarky Brides

Hey, it's October!

I swear, after Labor Day the year just flies.

Apparently Autumn has decided it's time to start prepping for winter.  Three more days of nice weather before we move to a high of 50F and an average low of 30F.  *sigh* Guess it's time to dig out some hats and gloves.

Long day today. I made a big batch of soup yesterday so at least I won't have to fuss with cooking when I get home at 6.

Re: Hey, it's October!

  • Good morning.  What kind of soup Anna?  I made chili yesterday.  It was okay.  Had good spice, but I feel like it's missing something and I can't put my finger on it quite.  I was wishing H was home last night cause he's usually good at these types of problems.  I added some salt and that helped some.
Glad the Packers pulled out a win :).

I bought some halloween candy yesterday cause there was a coupon for $2 off 2 bags of Nestle fun size on the frozen pizza I bought.  Now the trick is to control my sweet tooth so I don't end up eating it all myself before Halloween.
  • Mmm soup sounds good. I'm freezing at work today. I still think that they have the ac on which is a complete PITA.
  • I <3 Anna!!!!

Happy Monday. I am FREEZING in my office right now... I would love some soup- any suggestions on what I can make Anna?

  • Good morning!  Happy October!  It's officially less than a month until our second anniversary.  I seriously cannot believe it's been almost two years.

It's freaking hot here.  High of 90*.  Eff that noise, I want it to be cold!  I bought some cute fall clothes this weekend and I am ready to wear them!

Oh, and I definitely decorated for Halloween about halfway through September... oops ha ha.

Have you tried cinnamon or nutmeg?  Sometimes just a pinch can perk up my chili!

  • After Labor Day the year flies by?

Try, after Memorial Day the year flies by.  Where the hell did summer go??
  • On break from math.

The soup was my bad-for-you, loaded baked potato soup.  Lots of bacon, aged sharp cheddar, and heavy cream.  It's ridiculous.  You taste it, know it's not good for you, but it tastes oh so very good.

On big plus to October around here is that it's definitely soup season!  Time to break out my soup cookbook.  I stick to the classics usually for the most part. Beef stew, chicken noodle, chicken and wild rice, and a barely homemade chicken tortilla.  I've got to figure out how to make that last one healthier and GF.  Adding canned soups like in the past won't work this year.
  • Anna, that not so healthy soup sounds so delicious. I want.
  • Very jealous of everyone who actually gets a Fall.  Still looking at 100+ temps here this week.  BUT, I'll be in Nashville on Friday and probably will freeze so I won't complain now.

Speaking of anniversaries, 2 years ago today H proposed.  It's crazy to think that we've also already been married for almost a year and a half.  Dang that was a short engagement when I think about it.

</div><div>It's a cute little book with a bunch of base recipes and then it lists a bunch of possible alteration for each recipe.  I got it for Christmas a few years ago and I think I've only made it through 1/3 of the recipes.</div>

[QUOTE]Anna, that soup sounds divine.  And I'm hungry. Girlie, did I happen to mention that my H and I have a tentative trip planned to Phoenix in April?  I mean, no airline booked or anything but I scheduled my time off work.

  • Good morning.  I'm hungry for a big pot of Texas chili.  I haven't made that in a long time.

Not much going on here, except the typical Sunday night insomnia and getting back into the normal routine.  I enjoyed my time off very much, and I don't want to be here.  Fortunately it's going to be pretty quiet this week.

  • Well, it's definitely fall here. We had a wonderful, sunny weekend and got so much stuff done. the downside: now I'm tired and want to rest!

We wrapped the garage, installed a door and huge window, I painted dds room a very bright key lime colour, had friends over for dinner, got a haircut, hit the farmer's market and did my usual errands. I also finished the dresser-turned-entertainment-centre and put it in the living room.

Last night as our friends were heading home and we were seeing them to the door, I got to see the northern lights for the first time! It was beyond amazing. I stood on the front patio for almost an hour, just watching them.

    Afternoon ladies!

It's been busy since I hit the door, and it aint letting up. H cooked chili Saturday, but I think he's trying to kill me, it was WAY too hot. Yesterday I spent the day in bed, my head started hurting Saturday night and by 4:30 in the morning I thought my head was exploding, damn sinues. I took everything I had but was in bed all day. H finally gave me an Oxy, I had left over from a surgery.

The furnace guy was out today, bad news! But, H is pulling the trigger, he said he could just see it, the one week he's out of town it would be cold and the furnace would just die, the guy rigged it for now till he can install the new one.

Oh sure JCB go see Girlie, but not me!

ANNA! quit tempting me with kittens!

  • plus, one good weekend of soup cooking can yeild lots of leftovers to store in the freezer for no-cook night.
  • Kd will just have to getty her happy arse out to Phoenix as well.  Case de Girlie has 2 guest rooms, no waiting.

  • Brrrr it's freezing ass here. And by that I mean it's like 67.

Just got off work and I'm trying sooooo hard not to be sleeping when H gets home. I dunno if it was because I was on my P or what last week but I could not stop sleeping. Really bad stuff.

19 days til my half-marathon. New goal: not be sick for it! It's that time of year where I'm sick like every 3 weeks so cross your fingers folks.

I think we should have a pumpkin carving competition btw.

  • Hi ladies!

We're having a family dinner out tonight at Chili's, but that soup sounds really good!

I heard from our reverend today about changing the ceremony date to before the end of the year and received the blessing to do so, so my ticker is about to drastically change.

Aside from that - nothing new here.
