Snarky Brides

things I have realized recently...

- if I had been on TK when in college none of my papers would have been written on time or particularly well.

- paypal makes it easier for me to spend money online, it means I don't have to get up and get my purse to get my cc number. This leads me to buy things more easily...not good.

- etsy was more fun when I was wedding planning.

- I miss wedding planning...a co-worker got engaged on the weekend. Today I asked her if I could plan her Sumer 2012 wedding...she laughed and said sure (jokingly I know)...then I asked her what her colours are and she nearly keeled over laughing...

These are things I have come to realize recently...do you have any random and relatively unimportant (or important) revelations?

This thread could alternatively be called: We already watched Glee and now DH is playing Starcraft...entertain me please...

  • Oh, you can plan my wedding!

  • JK, how did you end up not having an October wedding? I remember you from the Oct 2010 board but I don't recall the story. And if it was a horrible story and I just put my foot in my mouth I am sorry!
  • Also...this thread could be a "you know you have been on TK too long when"...you post that you like someone's 'sig pic' instead of their profile pic on FB...sigh...when social media and online communities collide!
  • Ive realized im really good at saying Im going to do things, but I really suck at following through. REALLY suck.
  • I just watched Charlie Browns Christmas and I feel like I was robbed! It wasnt the same one. That just sucks.

  • -I just am not a career woman.  Work is what I do to make money so I can live my life, but I am not a ladder-climber and would be perfectly happy as a SAHM

-I really like hummace and mini oreos.

-I'm more obsessed with the William-Kate wedding than I'm comfortable admitting IRL, but it doesn't stop me from clicking on every single headline I come across

-I miss SB when I'm not here, and a lot of my opinions on society in general are at least partly shaped from the discussions here.

I procrastinated, and procrastinated, and then I got a job, and started working 60 hours a week.  And then it was crunch time, and I was SO stressed that even the thought of wedding planning made me cry or turned me into a raging biitch, so we postponed.  I'm sad I don't get my fall wedding, but it was a good decision.

I am better at saving money when I have a goal.

I have spent way too much money on scrapbooking and that has to change next year.

  • -I'm not having quite as much fun planning our wedding as I thought I would be. I'm half tempted to hire a planner.

-I just want to get it done and over with. I'd be super happy just going to the JOP, but FI wants us to have a real wedding this time around. (It's both of our second marriages.)

-I'm so not made to work retail. My manager was diicking me around last week after I got an offer for a part time position in medical billing, and I handed him my day-of notice after he gave me hell for my Black Friday 'protection agreement' percentage. wtf dude. I sold 20k worth of appliances. stfu.

<div>Yeah, those all sound like good reasons...when did you make the decision (how long before)...I love my fall wedding but I could have just as easily done January, or April. We did October because we got engaged in October of 09 and summer of '10 was already all booked up. As teachers the summer would have been WAY easier but I wasn't willing to have an engagement that lasted til 2011...a year was about all I could handle. </div>

  • That amazon.com sucks big donkey balls.  I placed an order November 28.  They said it would ship in 24-48 hours.  December 5 it finally shipped, in 2 parts.  The first part did not have any tracking information and was supposed to arrive today.  It's not here.  Thankfully the second part arrived (it was due Dec. 10 according to the tracking number).  WTF?

I also have realized that I'm more vocal and honest and I like it.  I credit SB with this.
  • B- I jsut ordered from Amazon for the first time. Now I'm scared!

I realized this week that little dude I work with is going to grow up someday. That terrifies me. People aren't always nice, and I'd much prefer that he remain a child.

I just realized that next semester may very well kill me.

Oh I would never be able to have a goal that far away. I am very good at putting things off until the last minute. I was trying to lose 7 pounds for the whole 7 months I was engaged and never got around to it. LOL!

I am better at saving when the goal is close. Like less than a year. I did it when I bought my house and for the wedding.

  • oh, I have another one. it stems from a conversation with a really good friend (also a teacher) whose child is the victim of bullying. I believe that not only the bully needs to be taught but also the bully. My friend is upset that nothing is being done to stop the bullying (which I totally get) but she never talks about her son's 'role' in it. He is at his third school in three years (not entirely because of bullying, the first move was partially motivated by it, the second had NOTHING to do with it) and he has had problems at all three schools. I get that bullying is wrong but we need to work with the victims too. They need to learn strategies and skills to help them. The reality is that eventually, they will be adults and they won't have anyone to 'suspend' bullies for them, they will need to work through it themselves since adults bully too!
  • B-What did you order?

They did the same thing with me when I ordered a book awhile back.

Jas- normally there is no problem. Dont worry.

  • I hope your experience is better than mine.  If not we'll trash talk them together when it's all over with, Jas.  I was thinking about it and I've never had a satisfactory experience with them.
