Big AW  here. It's been one month since we got engaged, and I have accomplished the following (with Christmas and FI being out of town two weeks).

Venue
Photographer

Cake
Dress

The only REALLY big thing left is the caterer/bar situation. And then TONS of little stuff.

I got my dress fitted Saturday by Becky Fowler and I think I will probably buy my veil from her too!

Yeah, I paid a lot of money for my veil, and didn't realize she sold them until right before my wedding. **head on desk** Definitely worth checking out her stash!!

While I know I could have gotten something cheaper, I loved my pricey veil.  It matched the trim/styling of my dress exactly.  However, I do wish I had found out about Becky before I started my fittings.

I think the last one is our most exciting AW- although I am pretty excited about our DJ! Oh- and we finalized the Londoner Uptown as our RD site. We really like Sonny Bryan's but the Londoner just means so much to usI. Plus- the view from their upstairs patio is amazing!

Not really an AW, but a cute exchange I just overheard between two students:
"When I get married, I'm having an open bar."
"Uh, duh, you're inviting your dad."

Which could possibly be taken badly, but from those two girls it was pretty adorable.  Also, they asked me to show them my wedding highlight video and it was fun to go all googoo over it again. 

Congrats on all the AWs, girls!  Seems like a productive week!

My dad offered to pay for ALL of the alcohol to ensure there was an open bar. Oh, and he's making a huge batch of 'Markaritas' as well. You're right, it's adorbs.

Hi Ladies.  I don't post here very often anymore, but I wanted to share a session from my photographer's blog.  It's an engagement session with a street photography feel.  I just wanted to share, since it's a neat way to do engagement photos.  My H and I actually posed for this session, since it was an idea she wanted to shoot before actually doing an engagement session.

Congrats to everyone on the awesome AWs!!!

WR AWs: 

- I got our paper in this week from Anchor Paper so I can slowly but surely start putting together 150 DIY invites... yikes!

- I wanted convertible dresses for the bridesmaids, but they all start at like $200! So I found a pattern online and am currently in the process of seeing if I can make them myself. If so, I could do them for $30-$40 each, and give them to the girls instead of asking them to buy a dress. That would make me EXTREMELY happy.

- Yesterday we passed the 7 month mark until the wedding!!! So glad it's getting closer!

I'm so proud of us Knotties and how productive we were this week! Also, I'm gonna need Becky Fowler's info at some point from someone, gotta talk about alterations and getting a veil made

We haven't decided yet- we are talking a few things over with Glenn but will decide once we can finalize our budget. At first, we were going to just iPod it, but have since realize how much a DJ adds to the atmosphere.

I guess my only semi-AW is that I finally decided to say something to FMIL instead of just being irritated and complaining about things.  FMIL and FFIL are incredibly nice and want to help do whatever they can. I REALLY appreciate how awesome they are to us.  However, I get frustrated when people start making decisions for me without asking me, mostly because I feel like I'm being pushed and secondly because in this case, they are spending money on things I never said I wanted = wasted money.  I know the wedding will "be here before we know it," but there's no reason to rush rush rush to get every minute detail done right this second.  We have 4 months, deep breath people... it will all be fine.

The worst part was that even though I tried to be exceptionally nice about it and phrase it so they know I really appreciated their help but just needed some time to make my decisions, the email I got back simply said, "Got ya."

Great. So that went well  :-/

I'm sorry, Amy.  I tried to ask my FILs about their preferences for this, that or the other and they actually asked Bill to ask me to stop emailing them.  I was pretty hurt.  Hugs to you.

:(  That sucks, Julie.  That's why I had tried to keep my mouth shut for a long time.  They are really great and so willing to jump in and do whatever, and I didn't want them to think I didn't appreciate them and all that they have done and have offered to do. I didn't want to hurt anyone's feelings.  I just needed time to be able to make some of my own decisions and make sure of exactly what I wanted before other people started spending their money and their weekend time working on projects and such that in the end, I might not have wanted anyway.  I would have felt HORRIBLE.

I would have been so hurt if my FIL's asked FI to tell me to stop e-mailing them.  I can imagine that was really hard to hear. :-/
