Question for Disney World fans

So we're starting to plan our trip to Disney next January, and since my dad is paying for a 2-night hotel stay as our Christmas gift we have a little extra money to spend. First, has anyone ever stayed at the All-Star Movie resort? It looks like fun and I was just wondering what it's like before booking anything.

Also, has anyone ever done a character dinner? I was thinking about dragging H to the Cinderella dinner at the Grand Floridian one night. I think it would be fun, if they actually have the characters walking around that talk to you.

Any other suggestions on what we should plan for? We're doing the parkhopper pass so we're going to try to hit Disney, Animal Kindgom, and Epcot. H is going to hate me by the end of it because of all the pics I will take.

Re: Question for Disney World fans

  • Right now Disney is running a special with FREE dining on certain dates through October, 2011.  We are going in January, and it saves a ton of money.   With the value resort such as ASMovies, you get the quick service plan for free.  For not much money you can upgrade to the Table Service Dining.  Go to www.waltdisneyworld.com and click on the specials at the bottom of the webpage.

We stayed at All Star Movies in May, and the room we stayed in was a little tired.  Not dirty - just stuff like scuffed up walls and stains on carpet.  The bus service is not so good - you have 3 resorts to pick up.

We much prefer Pop Century - it is a value resort and has its own bus service.
