Country Music People

I'm trying to make a cd for a friend.  She likes country music, but I don't listen to it at all.  For those of you who listen to country music, what are some good upbeat songs I could include in a mix?

My favorite country artists are Kenny Chesney, Garth Brooks, and Johnny Cash.  Taylor Swift is popular but... meh.  George Strait and Brad Paisley are excellent too.

ETA - I honestly don't think it matters WHAT Kenny or Garth songs you pick (if you pick any!).  They are all awesome as friggen get out.

  • OK - being from Texas, I feel like I should answer this question...

Would You Go With Me - Josh Turner
    Sweet Thing - Keith Urban

Hmm, I really love "Oklahoma Breakdown" by Stoney LaRue, but it's not really mainstream.

Haha, actually that's not one of my favorites either - but it's a crowd favorite :)

  • I like alt-country, so I'd recommend The Waco Brothers and Robbie Fulks.  Specific songs that are my favorites would be Waco Brothers' Death of Country Music,  Cowboy in Flames, See Willy Fly By, and their version of Big River.

Robbie Fulks' Cigarette State, Let's Kill Saturday Night, Goodbye Good-Looking, and In Bristol Town One Bright Day, and gosh, just about anything really.  I love him.
  • Okay now my wheels are turning.

    Kenny:
    Back where I come from
    Young
    Keg in the Closet (?)

    Garth:
    Callin' Baton Rouge
    Standing outside the fire
When you come back to me again
    Beaches of Sheyenne
That Summer (haha... love that one)

  • I'm currently pretty in love with Eli Young Band and Bart Crow Band.
  • Garth Brooks
Two of  A Kind (Working on a full house)
Ain't going down till the sun comes up

    Taylor Swift
     Our Song
     Mine

    Dixie Chicks
     Sin Wagon
     Ready to Run

    Shania Twain
Man, I feel like a woman!

  • You've gotta have some classic Reba too!

    Fancy
    Does He Love You
The Night the Lights Went out in Georgia (although the Linda Rondstadt version is good too)

And that new song by Zach Brown Band and Alan Jackson - Fallin' in Love while She's walking Away

(Ok any ZBB or Alan is good)
    Mrs. Wiggins image
  • Chicken Fried!

By Zach Brown Brand... definitely a good one!

That is one of my favorite country songs.

A few more off the top of my head:
    Chattahoochie - Alan Jackson
    Good Directions - Billy Currington
    Ticks - Brad Paisley
    Should've Been a Cowboy - Toby Keith
Small Town Saturday Night- Hal Ketchum

The last one is kind of old, but my mom was a radio DJ for a country station when I little and she used to play it, and dedicate it for me.

  • This thread is one of my favorites. Tide- I go dancing 3-4 nights a week. Everyone laughs at DD because she already has enough rhythm to dance with me.

    Darius Rucker- Come back song
Lady Antebellum- Our Kind of Love
Just about anything by Brad Paisley- I agree on the Ticks song though. Start A Band w/Keith Urban is good though.
smoke a little smoke- Eric Church
    Sin wagon- Dixie Chicks
Hell on the heart- Erick church
My Kind of Party- Jason Aldean
How I got to be this way- Justin Moore
Just about anything Toby Keith, Trace Adkins & some of the newer Reba is pretty upbeat.

  • Tide, on our Road Trip, I'll have to take you to the bar I used to work at.. Line dancing all freaking night long.. It's awesome.
  • Josh Turner "Why don't we just dance" or "Firecracker" are both good songs.  I love Sugarland and Little Big Town, both have good upbeat songs.  Trace Adkins is always good.  "HIllbilly Bone" is a great song.  Gretchen Wilson has a few songs that are fun to listen to.

I miss having a country station to listen to.  NYC doesn't have one.

OMG Tide!!!! I thought I was the only one on here who loves to line dance! Its wierd though - at home in PA there's all sorts of places to dance but down here in TN I have to go to Nashville and only Nashville if I want to dance!
