  • A lot of our tables kind of built themselves.  Start with specific groups of people and then work from there.  (i.e. work friends., bride's mother side, bride's father side, groom family, friends, etc...)

I have family that would refuse to sit together, so I understand your frustration.

We put our guests names on little pieces of paper. Guests with dates shared a single piece. Then we started grouping them together by family, work friends, mothers friends, etc. It was very tricky and not a lot of fun, I'll be honest. We still haven't finalized it yet. Putting the names on slips of paper made it much easier to rearrange.
  • I'm using the knot to help built it since I put my guest list in there anyways and it has been a huge help. Then when people come in they will see business size cards with their name and a table number on it. Then they will see the tables and their names at the tables.

  • I put each individuals name on a post-it flag. Then I drew out the room with circles for each table. Then I went group by group and figured out who sat at each table. That way I could visually see how many people were at a table. It was actually a lot easier then I thought. There were only a few people I didnt know what to do with.

  • I used the knot since I already had my guest list on there. We are already having a bunch of no no's at our wedding and decided to continue with that theme lol. We grouped are guests by personality and with the exception of the "family" tables - our friends are grouped as 2 couples from FI list and 2 couples from my list. Might as well break all the rules!

I did this too. I used the little plastic brightly colored flags. Then I assigned each group a color (ex. Work people on blue flags, etc.). When it was as I liked it I put it in the PowerPoint seating chart template and uploaded it to my Google Docs so I can edit it from anywhere.
