Snarky Brides

Choices....Choices....

Okay so I LOVE pasta.  We have a pasta station at the wedding and I'm having difficulties picking my two choices.  Assume I found all options equally delish (which I did) and no price difference.  Please tell me which two you'd like at a reception.....

Penne alla Vodka
Penne in a Plum Tomato and Basil sauce
Rigatoni in Alfredo sauce
Rigatoni in Pesto
Penne in a Wild Mushroom sauce
Rigatoni in a Bolognese sauce
Penne in a Filet Di Pomodoro sauce

And go!

Penne in a Plum Tomato and Basil sauce
Rigatoni in Alfredo sauce
Rigatoni in Pesto

ETA: I understand you said to choose two however I can only narrow it down to three!

I picked the first two because tomato and alfredo sauces are generally well-liked and I absolutely love pesto sauces!!

I also love ALL pastas so with me you can't lose with whatever you choose!

I have no idea what plum tomotos are but I like basil?

I think an alfredo is always a safe bet.
• I agree with jenna 100%

Penne in a Plum Tomato and Basil sauce
Rigatoni in Alfredo sauce
Rigatoni in Pesto

We actually had something very similar to these 3 at our rehearsal dinner.  The first 2 were a hit, i loved the pesto but not many people took any.  i think my H's "meat and potato" family was put off by the green color.  They're anti-vegetable in any way, shape, or form.

Plum tomatoes are the really tiny ones.  Basically its a sweet tomato sauce because both the tomatoes and the basil make it sweet tasting.
• See I'd love the Alfredo but FI's fav dish is Penne alla Vodka.  I don't want two cream based dishes.  This is why I cannot decide anything.
• Pesto for me, penna alla vodka for your FI.

Ouch, that's rough. In my completely unprofessional opinion I'd probably guess that more people would enjoy the alfredo dish because it's more common but it's also your FI's wedding so if he wants the vodka sauce that could be a challenge.

Is his heart set on the penne vodka??
• I've never had it, and honestly, the penna alla vodka sounds intimidating to me.

• Maybe you can just throw it all to the wind and choose these two:

Penne in a Wild Mushroom sauce
Rigatoni in a Bolognese sauce

Kidding. Though I love bolognese sauce too...well, I love the one at my favorite hole-in-the-wall italian restaurant back home!

Yeah he really wants it.  But its only a station at cocktail hour.....so maybe I'm just over thinking things.  There is a ton of food at cocktail hour so there should be plenty of dishes for people to enjoy.

I'm not a huge fan but I've only ever had the store-bought vodka sauce which makes a difference to me.
• Can you do a tasting for a few of them??
• I can also tell you, I do not like bolognese or mushrooms or pomodoro.

Because, you know, you should only be picking things I want :P
• I've tasted them all and so has FI.  See I could call it Penne in a Blush Vodka Sauce.

Thanks girls for your help!!  I love alfredo too.  I think the mushroom sauce is a great idea....however I know a lot of people don't eat mushrooms.

Penne alla vodka is one of the best dishes I cook.....come visit me and I'll make it for you =)

It's great. It can be done as a white or blush sauce. The vodka cooks off and gives just a nice little something extra to the taste.
Vodka and Bolognese.  But I would see if I could change teh chape of one of them because penne and rigatoni are so similiar.
Posted by mica001
I can really change them to any pasta shape.  But all are the short versions.  No long noodles because this is being served as a station at cocktail hour.  I could change one to cavitelli if need be or farfalle.
• Alfredo is always a safe crowd pleasing choice, but keep in mind that if it is true chef made alfredo sauce it can't really sit out.

These are made at stations.  Meaning they are individual prepared and served by a chef at the station.
• I LOVE pasta. With a serious passion. My choices are:

Penne in a Plum Tomato and Basil sauce
Rigatoni in Alfredo sauce

• Penne alla Vodka
Penne in a Plum Tomato and Basil sauce

Hmm.  I'm no help, I would have chosen those two.

• I choose anything in a white sauce since I am a messy eater.
Wedding Countdown Ticker
• I'd say plum tomato and basil sauce and vodka sauces, one cream based, one tomato based, both delicious.  if you don't have any vegetarians or vegans coming, you could do the bolognese and the vodka sauces.

• I am all about Pesto. And I'd throw in the Bolognese as well, because that has meat, right?

Lilypie Premature Baby tickers
• Penne in a Plum Tomato and Basil sauce
Rigatoni in Alfredo sauce
• Rigatoni in Pesto
Penne in a Wild Mushroom sauce

I will have both, please.

If there's going to be a ton of other foods.  There's no reason to stay "safe" with the pasta dishes.  People will be able to find something they'll like.  Choose something that's different than your other dishes.
