Life-1 Me-0

I really like how I did not notice that each Halls throat thing is 15 calories each! Lets just say there are 30 in a bag and I have probably eaten over 20....They aren't even working...My throat still feels like its being ripped up by a grizzly bear. [face-palm]

Anyone else having one of these moments today?

  • It's medicine so those calories totally don't count ;)
  • Ok that makes me feel a little better. I just want to know how that pack those  15 calories into this small little round thing...

  • A sore throat is not the time to be calorie counting, at least in my book.
  • My boss has used the phrase "in the 9th hour" at least 3 times today and it makes me want to rip his arm off and beat him with it.

Yes my guess too. They have sugar free ones and I am going to go on a hunt for those kind once i finish this bag. They just seem too small to  have 15 calories...5 calories would be reasonable not 15.

  • Double check the package, sometimes it will be 50 cal/serving, and then 10 pieces are a serving so it's really 5 per candy.
  • I was feeling a bit stressed, but then I laughed at the mental image of Cew beating a man with his own arm.
  • You know, if you use too many of those you'll build up immunity and they'll no longer be effective.
  • Riiicoolaaa.

Actually my favorite thing for sore throats is tea. Either Throat Coat or Slippery Elm Bark tea. They make your throat feel fabulous.

  • Try the numbing ones, not just the ones that soothe.

I always use Cepacol.  They should sell them at your local pharmacy - one works for like 3-4 hours.  Or if it's really bad, talk to your doctor about a prescription for liquid lidocaine.  That stuff will work wonders - I had H1N1 and the worst sore throat of my life (couldn't even swallow water, it hurt so bad) and the lidocaine made life much more livable.

    Feel better!

  • The bag says 15 per drop.

Roxy i didn't know that. I guess it makes sense. This is my first time i have had these in probably a year. I don't get sick very often but when i do, its bad. Luckily its just my throat and my ears today.

  • Thanks i think i will go out and try to find some of that tea! Also different kind of drops, this is not working out.

meg- this is only day 2 of soar throat an im oot at my FIs house so i have to wait until i go back home.

  • Get Cepacol then, if you can't get a prescription yet!  Those things have the same active ingredient, just far smaller dose.

Or you can call your doctor - they'll call in that prescription no problem usually.  It's not exactly something people would abuse - it tastes nasty, and all it does is numb your throat.

  • Also Sucrets have worked really well for me in the past. The cough drop, not the personn ;)
  • Isn't a tablespoon of honey a good remedy for a sore throat? Or is that for chapped lips? I don't remember.

    Either way, feel better soon!

Watch your ass (er, literally) if you do. Most sugar free candy and I'm guessing Halls would be the same, has a warning that consuming too much will cause a laxative effect.

Hot tea with lemon, honey and a drop of whiskey!
  • I know this comes rather late dealing with your grizzly ridden throat but have you heard of Cold-Eeze throat drops? The cherry ones are great and they totally numb you and if taken early enough help me get rid of the throat issues quicker.

I hope you start feeling better soon, it stinks to be sick in the summer! Especially if you're dealing with the extreme humidity like I am. :(
