Incorporating Grandmother's Wedding Band

Hi Ladies!

My Grandmother passed away a while back, and the three girl cousins were told that we each get a ring of hers once we're engaged.  There are two solitaires (her original engagement, and her 'upgrade'), and another gold and pearl ring.  All of her rings are yellow gold, and my engagement ring is white gold.  Any ideas on how I could repurpose and incorporate one of her rings into my wedding?

Thanks and Happy Monday!

You could wear it on your other hand :) I've seen that done before or get it redipped in white gold.

Which one are you going to pick ?

If you aren't wanting to wear the ring, you could incorporate it by putting it around one of the stems of your bouquet. I did something similar with a strand of my grandmother's pearls and my grandfather's WW2 pilot wings.

I had thought about having one of them dipped in Rhodium and using it as my wedding band, but I've heard that when the Rhodium starts to wear it's really obvious and you have to get it redipped pretty frequently.  But, it might be worth it.  I do think I'd get the upgraded solitaire and use the diamond for a pendant.  The pearl ring has a really sweet story to it that makes it pretty special, but my little sister loves pearls so I don't think I want to choose that ring.

My e-ring and wedding band are Rhodium plated, and I take mine back to Robbins Bros once a month to be cleaned and re-plated since they do it for free for the life of the rings. If you have it done by a jeweler, see if they can include that service (if it isn't already...I think it is fairly customary.)

I like the idea of leaving the ring in its original state and either wearing it as is or putting it on the bouquet.

My wedding band is my great grandmother's.  It started out as two rows of five single-cut stones, and it was wayyyy too big.  We had it reset so all the stones were in one row, added a few so it matched up with my engagement ring, and the jeweler carved notches in the gold so it would fit perfectly with the engagement ring.

Oh wow...  That sounds really cool.  I'm going to try and make an appointment with a jeweler we know and see what he suggests.  My fiance likes the idea of leaving it in its original state, but I wouldn't be able to wear it really that way.

    As usual, I'm indecisive.  :)

I currently wear a White gold wedding ring and a yellow gold ring on either ring fingers. If this is your major concern trust me most people won't notice. The yellow gold ring is in memory of my cousin who passed away and I got the ring from her brother. I wear it everyday and while I could have had it dipped I personally think it's better keeping it as orginal.
