Re: Share your ghost stories

  • amylydia- I like that story.

I thought I would share these (from my best friend)

  • I'm liking these nice stories better.

And WTF are those photos EEK!
  • Uhh yeah... those pics just made my heart skip a beat! And I am home alone...
  • Well the first one was my friend's niece when she was brought home from the hospital and they think its their grandma.

The second one was in their living room and the son was talking towards that corner. The dad came in and asked who he was talking to and the son got real quiet right away. The dad felt really weird so he took a picture with his cell phone and that's what came up. They think its a portal.

[QUOTE]Night Jas :) I'm just so thanksful Scott closes the store tomorrow instead of his usual 3am shift. Now when I have dreams I can make him investigate the noises :) Rhon, I had a similar experience in, of all places, the National Cathedral in DC. We were walking up a back spiral staircase and suddenly I got all woozy and heard foot steps. I got the worst panic attack and apparently froze on the steps. I thought that someone was chasing me and if they caught me would kill me and flew up the steps. I reached the top of the stairs and then jolted back awake when my mom grabbed my arm and said "Are you ok?" I had never moved on the stairs. Then when we walked down to the gift shop I had another panic attack because I felt like the spirits didn't want me in there, that something was wrong with me and I ran through the gift shop into the crypts which felt ok.

I got pushed in the cathedral!  The last time i was there, i felt like I got pushed and actually fell once.  i think i took a pretty decent picture as i fell though  ;)

  • I love hearing other people's ghost stories. AmyLydia-you should probably watch a chick flick before bed ;-)

Me and my friend like to do those ghost tours and we recently did an evp session. We were in this creepy basement and I swear I heard a little girl saying "no". Then one of the girls on the tour got hit with this little piece of plastic. Like it was thrown at her, not hard though. We're still waiting to hear the audio from the session.

THis sounds cool!  Remember that show on MTV where the people had to spend time alone in old abandoned prisons and hospitals in order to win money.  I could never do those things!
  • Wow! That is awesome.  One of my guilty pleasures is Ghost Hunters especially because I am from RI.  I just cant handle this crap while I am home alone and already freaked out because I live in El Paso.  I feel like I am going to be abducted and taken over the border or something and never seen again.
  • I also have the world's crappiest guard dog.  I guess that's what I get for having a teacup beagle.
  • You're in El Paso??? That's where I'm from!

That's where my friend lives and all that crazy sh*t happens.
  • My husband is in the Army, good ole Fort Bliss.
  • Oh man don't even get me started on Ft. Bliss, that place is haunted like crazy. But there are ghost tours at the Concordia cemetary if you're ever interested. They're big groups, but my friend got some good pictures there.
  • Great... haha well I feel a little better because I don't live on post but still... I am definitely not sleeping tonight.  The ghost tour would be something I would like with my husband but definitely not alone.
  • Man do I have stories!

The night my dad died of lung cancer, I woke up and was suddenly at peace.  I'd been having problems breathing for a few months but it all went away.  I said "I love you Daddy" and went back to sleep.  I figured he had died and found out the next morning that I was right.

I was home alone one day goofing off on the computer with my back to the kitchen.  I heard something fall off the counter and went to investigate.  A loaf of bread was on the floor, but I had put the bread away just a little bit before.  I put it away again and went back to the computer.  A few minutes later I heard some more rustling in the kitchen then some foot steps and a music box in the living room started playing on its own.  My heart was pounding.  I said "Please stop. You're scaring me." The music stopped immediately.

My sister used to wake up to the smell of flowers in her room and someone tucking the covers in around her.  When she'd open her eyes her bedroom door would still be closed.  Nobody else was in the room.  She would also wake up to someone patting her feet or the blankets at the foot of her bed whenever my brother or I were having nightmares.

Sleepovers would always take place in the living room.  Sleeping in my room would freak people out too much.  I knew there was something in the room because I'd see freaky glowing eyes floating sometimes, but "it" never bothered me.

When we remodeled my mom's house, my nephew (who was 3 at the time) pointed at the wall and said "Grandpa!"  His grandfathers both passed away long before my nephew was born.

My fiance and I were fooling around in the livingroom at my mom's house when we first got together (hey we were in high school!).  He looked up and his face turned white.  I asked what was wrong and he said he saw a girl standing there staring with brown hair.  We were the only people in the house.

There are more stories, but that's all I can think of just before bed.

My bedroom growing up was the same way!  Except it freaked me out a lot a few months before I moved out.  I would wake up feeling like I was being strangled and I couldn't breath or scream out even though I would try to yell for my mom.  I feel like whatever it was, was mad I was leaving.

When he was little, my brother woke one day and saw what he termed 'an olden days lady' by the end of his bed. To be honest though, I've since had things like this happen (where I've woken but somewhat continued dreaming for a few seconds and 'seen' things that were there- even after blinking- but weren't actually there at all) and this is an actual sleep phenomenon, so I'm pretty sure that what he 'saw' was actually a result of his mind being half-asleep and wasn't actually there. Likewise, H swore when he was a child that he had flown once. His mother said he was so insistent that she began to wonder if he actually had done it! haha.

When I was a child, I was convinced that there was a ghost in our house. There were very audible sounds of a person walking up and down the stairs (to the point where I would sometimes say, 'mum?' thinking that my mother had come upstairs). Once we were all in the lounge room and my family heard someone walking upstairs- it was so convincing that Dad had us all stay in the lounge while he went up to investigate.

I was scared of the stairs at first, but after awhile I got over it. I used to sit on the stairs and be like, 'come on, do something if you're there! I'm not scared of you!'. We moved out of the house when I was 15, although I had ghost dreams up until a year or so ago which always featured that house.

I was babysitting once when the TV randomly turned on. The kids were all in bed, although at first I presumed one of them was playing a trick- until I realised the remote was on the table in front of me. That freaked me out somewhat!

  • At the house where I grew up, same land lot as my mom, grandparents, and uncle, there is an old fort right down the street, maybe a 5 minute walk. The land was part of a Seminole battle and soldiers and Indians died on it. If you go out in the middle of the night, when all lights are off and no other neighbors are awake, you can hear what sounds like horse hooves hitting the ground and people shouting. It used to scare the hell out of me until my grandfather said they were our brothers and wouldn't hurt us.

But weird sh!t happens at my mom's. One day she felt the bed and covers move and a voice whispered in her ear, "Time to wake up, Mommy." She thought it was my brother, but he was still in bed asleep. The same morning my door opened and I thought he had laid down next to me, but when I turned no one was there. Things like that happened all the time.

If you ask my mom she'll tell you something is weird with me. When I was younger I apparently used to tell her thephone was ringing just before it rang or I'd say something that had to do with whatever she was thinking. Now, almost every time I call her she says she just had the phone in her hand to call me. She could be lying though. Although H is the same way, when he starts to ask a question half the time I'll answer him before he's done asking and he's like, "HOw the hell did you know what I was going to say?"
  • I know I'm late on this, but I'm sad I missed the thread last night.

I have heard that its rare for men to have sensitivities to spirits, but my dad does. Because of him, I believe. I think I have them too, but I havent' really done anything about it so they aren't very strong.

When i was 6 months old we moved from TX to LA. While our house was being built, we lived in an old family home from the late 1800s. It was falling apart, but at least it was shelter. Anyway, one night I was sick, and just crying non-stop. FInally my dad got me to sleep, and he prayed that I would stay asleep because he had to leave to go offshore early in the morning. He said that he heard me crying again but then I suddenly stopped. He came into the room and my bassinet was swinging back and forth, very rhythmically. He said I was sleeping soundly and the bassinet didn't stop rocking like you would expect it to if I had rolled around and made it rock. He believes his grandmother (original builder of the house) was rocking my bassinet, and I have no doubt. He has other stories, but that's the one I remember most. My mom verifies the sequence of events but refuses to believe it was my great grandmother.

I used to have premonition dreams a lot when I was younger, but they scared me. I think I have tried to block them out because of the fear factor. My dad is very spiritual, though, and he believes that our ancestors are here to help us out when we need them.  He has amazing connections with animals, especially owls. He, and several tribal elders, have told me that I could do the same if I would just calm my brain down and let the spirits in. I admit that I am too afraid to do that.

  • well ironically this took place in the house i grew up in...

my grandparents were renting out the house to a couple and they were doing some improvements (this was a while ago)...the wife had passed away, my dad and his friend did not know this.  they were laying carpet in the basement and they had looked up and saw a women standing there watching them...my dads friend asked if she liked it and she nodded and walked off not saying a word - they just kept workiing assuming it was the guy's wife.

when they were done they went and had the guy come see the work, make sure it was good, let him know they were leaving...and my dad said oh your wife also really likes it.  the guy got really pale and said how do you know my wife likes it?

my dad said they looked up and saw a women standing there and had asked her and she nodded then walked off...the guy asked them to describe the woman and they did...again my dad said the guy was pale and looked like he would faint.  he sat down and said that was impossible...

of course my dad and his friend wanted to know why...

he said his wife had died a few weeks before, there were not pictures of her where they were working...

    how creepy is that?!?!

  • Mine's a sweet one, but doesn't involve people.

I lost my beloved dog back in December. Last Saturday, Max was at Doggie Day Camp, and John was home early from RAGBRAI. I had gone upstairs to lie down for a nap so I could prop up my knee. I think John may have come up too - no he was gone, to go pick up his truck.

Anyway, I was alone. I heard this faint bell ring (we've hung bells for Max to ring to tell us he wants to go outside), and then beside me, I heard Maggie's "I found my contented spot" sigh. I don't get the bell part; she didn't have them; but it was like she came in from lying in the grass and came up to lie beside me.
