Bridezilla Concept

Hi,

     I was on another forum, reading about a woman complaining about her "bridezilla" sister-in-law.  Others were saying "it's her right" to be that way, and she'd be fine once the wedding was over.  Perhaps I'm naive, but I just don't buy the bridezilla concept.  I've known many a bride, and have never witnessed any bridezilla behavior.  They were definitely stressed at points, but no one turned into a self-centered, demanding wench.  I think that if you are acting like a hag while you're a bride, you probably act that way everyday anyway.  Any thoughts or stories to prove me wrong?  I'm really curious.

I don't see why being a bride means you can be a bitch. Sure we all get stressed but suck it up and deal, don't let out your frustrations on everyone else. I totally agree, if you're a bitchy bride you'll be a bitchy wife.

i always think about that bridezilla show. how these women found someone to actually marry them AND that they have friends never stops amazing me. if you're a bitch you're a bitch, being a bride has nothing to do with it.

I agree.  The few people I know that turned into a bridezilla (or some form thereof) were spoiled brats to begin with--getting married only exagerated the problem.  Most also had unrealistic expectations of the engagement process (expecting things of people, over the top budget which they couldn't afford, etc.) which brought out their evil side.

Being stressed is one thing, but being a downright bitch is another. I think if you are already spoiled and a brat, then you are going to want eveyrthing handed to you, and God forbid if that does not happen!

I just remember watching an episode of bridezillas where the bride told one of her bridesmaids (her sister I believe) that her hair made her look like a clown and she thought she was getting too fat so - becuase she is such a wonderful friend - she bought a dress a few sizes larger than the one originally bought so there wouldn't be any problems on the wedding day....

It amazes me that people like that actually have friends and family that speak to them lol, not to mention found a man desperate enough to marry them.

if you've ever seen the show, there was that one insane chick from staten island on there. turns out that a friend of mine knows her now husband and he said that yes, she really is like that in real life. she's a complete bitch and no one actually likes her. he has no idea why he married her.

I agree with you. I haven't turned into a bitch during this whole thing. With that being said i've had two moments where I had some bitchy behavior with stress. Afterwards my sister and I just started busting up laughing about my "bridezilla" moment. As far as the brides like own the bridezilla show...nothing compared to that.

Was this the one where she was yelling and refusing to apologize to the "doorman" and kept saying it like he was some form of scum on the bottom of her shoe?

My mom and I cannot understand why these guys go through with the wedding.  If I started acting like this both my FI and my mom would slap me.

Although my favorite moment was a bridezilla spray painting the brown and dead grass outside her venue green because she visited the place in the summer where it was nice and green but her wedding was in the winter.  The patch of grass ended up being like day-glo green.  Not necessarily bridezilla behavior but funny nevertheless.

She said in the article that in real life it wasn't so bad, but when she watched the show later on, she was like "Oh my goodness, I wasn't that mean!" and she was appalled by it. But the show paid her for it, so it helped her pay off the wedding. But yeah. Don't think that Bridezillas is all that you see on TV. They edit, alter, and force the brides into acting that way && they start drama just to start it.

Also, if you treat your friends and family like shiit just to be on some dumbass show, then you are worse than a bridezilla.
