In Response to Re: What's annoying you today? : Jayce.  She was keeping the name quiet--I only found out yesterday.  He was about 8lbs.  She went in last night and he was born some time around 11 this morning.  It's exciting because she's my only cousin and I have no sisters, so besides my close friends' kids, he's my "nephew".

Cute! I can totally understand keeping it quiet. I got some weird looks when I told people I picked the name Emerson. My own mom didn't even like it.

So does your cousin live in the same area as you? And by that, I mean, do you get to go see the baby?

ETA: Dodgers, I'm really sorry you're going through all of that. I hope you get everything figured out and can start feeling better soon.

She's in central Jersey, which is about an hour from me.  I'm probably going to head down this weekend, since she's probably exhausted and it's far.  She's only 21, turining 22, so she's planning on staying with my aunt for a few days to help adjust.  I figure they'll need some down time before visitors.

But my weekend's going to be insane.  I have my best friend's baby shower Saturday and now baby visiting, too.  Hello, baby central :)
Wow, that sucks Dodgers. I hope you get in soon. I don't know anything about diabetes or hypothyroidism but all that sounds miserable.
    Posted by Seshat411
Thanks. It is miserable but it can always be worst. I try not to get down on it too much because I know many ppl are far worst. It was much harder doing all this at 16 then now at 22. I just feel it's so weird to be 22yrs old with two chronic illness and on two blood pressure medications. I got an appt for next week so that's great.

Wow you are going to be busy. I'm not really a fan of baby showers. I get bored. I have one to go to in a month, and I'm not that excited. I even got bored at my own baby shower. haha.  (Not that I didn't appreciate it and everyone immensely).

The baby visiting part is awesome, though!   That's really great that she can stay with your aunt . That will help a lot!
In Response to Re: What's annoying you today? : I've been diabetic for 6 years now and I have had Hyperthyroidism(w/ Grave's disease) as well. I recently had labs done and on my results my general doctor told that I have now become  Hypo. He wanted me to see my Endo doctor to adjust the levels of medication since I am still taking my Hyper medication which lowers the level. Normal range is like 0.5-1.5 and I am at 8.30. My thyroid being so out of whack is causing a lot of issues with my diabetes. My sugar is all over the place. One minute I am high the next I am low. It's also affecting my kidney's. I recently gained a lot of weight and I thought that was simply because I have not been on my best behavior food or exercise wise but since my levels are so low it lowered my metabolism..

Her shower wasn't so bad, because my fam was there, but other ones kill me because I have limited people to talk to.  How much small talk can you make? :P

True story--I have never held a baby (or, I might have as a kid, but never as an adult).  I'm deathly afraid I will drop it.  I know everyone tells me I won't, but there's nothing worse than dropping someone's baby.  How can you ever get over that?  Hey, sorry I dropped your kid, want to get lunch? Oh my God, I live in fear of baby visitations :).
In Response to Re: What's annoying you today? : That is so exactly me....wouldn't it just be easier to stay legally with my last name??  If he wants to introduce me with his last name, that's totally fine.  But I don't want to have to run around and get a new ss card, new license, new passport....just too lazy.  I threw it out there that if he wants to change HIS name to my name, that would be fine too....we're not having kids anyway so why should i have to automatically take his name??
    Posted by jcbsjr
We're not having kids either, and professionally I have to keep my last name anyway since it's my published name. Well, I don't HAVE to keep it but I prefer to since it makes more sense. So that's another reason why I haven't rushed, there's just no need to. But combine that with all the work that goes along with changing your name...it makes me feel lazy just thinking about it.

But like you, I'm totally fine being addressed with his last name.

I'm annoyed by the all the rain that we've gotten in the past two days. Maybe not so much the rain, but the fact that everyone forgets how to drive.

Yep.  They either drive way too fast or way too slow.  There is a nice, normal pace that everyone can maintain, where no one will die in a fiery blaze or die from old age before getting somewhere.
  • i'm annoyed that I didn't get a job (after a fabulous 2nd interview) because, "We just really think the other candidate could benefit more from gainful employment."

I didn't get the job because I actually have a nice interview outfit, and i don't have children.  I wore a suit (exec. asst. position) and she wore khakis with a pumpkin sweater.  I wore my wedding band, she was wearing one of those mommy necklaces with the kids' names on it.

    grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

Don't stress.  Someone has to be the first to let the baby roll off the bed or couch,  and clock the baby's head on a door frame. (usually getting into the car)

Thank goodness that babies kinda bounce.

Ha! No! I don't want to be that person.  I want to laugh at and taunt that person.

That sucks about the job, though.  Maybe next time you should bring in a colored picture that looks like a 5 year old made it and say "My kid made this for you today.  He hopes we can pay our bills this month."  Who can resist that?

Also, I am making pumpkin pie and burning vanilla, apple, and autumn candles throughout the apartment.  It smells like a yummy Fall/Christmas hybrid.

Haha. I totally get that. Hold him while sitting down until you're comfortable. They really aren't that wiggly when they are that small. It's when they get a little older and have more control over their body. Emerson would always throw himself backwards while you were holding him. It was scary.

You feel terrible when it happens, and then one day your innocently playing a game of "flying baby" and the darn kid pukes on your face or in your mouth.  So it all end up even with the universe.

Or maybe borrow someone's kid and be like, "i can't afford daycare without a job."  Too bad there's no correct way to tell them that i'll never be a mom if I can't have a job.
