Holy crap. What do you guys think of this?

Re: I would not want this job.

  • One Mexican criminology professor told the Arizona Republic that getting elected to public office in Mexico "is like winning a tiger in a raffle."

Ok, clearly I'm 12 because I immediately pictured the tiger in The Hangover and burst into giggles.

No doubt.  She is either really brave or really crazy to take that job.  (Maybe both??)

  • Holy moses, that's insane.

There's a town near where I live in FL that has some of the highest paid policemen because no one wants to work there. It's that dangerous. Fl is weird like that, if you drive five minutes south or east of my apartment, it's pure ghetto, and if you drive five minutes west or north, you're surrounded by rich folk and Whole Foods.

  • Ugh. I admire what she is going, but they are just going to have to impose martial law (if they have that in Mexico) over there sooner or later. There are some areas in Mexico that are completely out of control.

This sounds like where I live. Look one day down the street, rich folk living on the river. Look the other way, cracktown. My mom keeps looking up houses on Craigslist, telling H and me to buy them because they in such great areas. No, mom, the north end of the street is great. The south end is where you get shot.
  • Oh hells no. Not for all the coke in Mexico would I take that job.

I jsut usually use the word clicky, then highlight it and hit the "insert/edit link" button down there. It comes up with a place to insert link. :)

Ha, good old Jax. My first apartment there was on University N. It was right next to JU, and that was the only thing that kept it from being completely terrifying.

I also lived in Riverside right before moving back to AL. That was interesting because it was a mix of ghetto and highclass, all co-existing peacefully. Weird.
Mexican Coke is much different that US Coke. They use a dfferent type of sugar. Sorry, my head is full of crap like that.

Mexican Coke uses cane sugar. US Coke uses high fructose corn syrup. I liked when they had the throwback sodas out.
In Response to Re: I would not want this job. : But what about all the coke in Colombia? Or how about for a Coca Cola?
    Posted by maratea
Mexican coke(a-cola) is a commodity! They use real sugar instead of HFCS, so it's not as sweet. They sell them in some specialty shops and mexican restaurants here.

There's a lot of drug cartel crackdowns in TJ now because of the new police chief they got a few years ago. I still woudn't drive there.

i've only been to Ensenada, actually, and that was 4 years ago.

There's several Mexican grocery stores in the area and a few have the cane sugar Coke. I love it. I always get one if we go.

I know it's gotten better but I guess I wouldn't feel comfortable. The last time I've been to TJ was like 6 years ago. I know a lot of girls that went to HS with me used to go to Ensenada and Rosarito all the time alone. My mom would never let me go because she heard too many horror stories.
