Registries

Hi there!

So has anyone else besides crazy me thought about their registries yet? Do you know where you will register?

We are thinking about BBB and Macy's, but haven't put much actual thought or reserach into that decision yet.

Also, when do you think you'll register?

Re: Registries

  • I haven't thought about them yet. I probably should have gotten on that before my wedding, huh?

And betrothed, I'm disgusted with most of the comments that you have posted. I don't think I've ever read such judgmental comments in my life. I'm so lucky that the girls I speak to on theknot are nothing like you...I would've never come on here for ADVICE if I would've encountered a big a bitch as you. I genuinely feel awful for your children or your future children, and I think it would be irresponsible of YOU not to invest in their future therapy sessions starting now. Because trust me when I tell you honey, they're gonna need it. ~jcaruncho2010

  • Now's the time to start on your anniversary registry, B.

We just finished our registry last night. My shower is next Saturday. Just be sure to get them done before the invites to your shower go out. We registered at Target and Pottery Barn.

This just made my day a little brighter.
Which did you like better? "Jedi" or "The Empire Strikes Back"? "Empire". Blasphemy. "Empire" had the better ending. I mean, Luke gets his hand cut off, finds out Vader's his father, Han gets frozen and taken away by Boba Fett. It ends on such a down note. I mean, that's what life is, a series of down endings. All "Jedi" had was a bunch of Muppets.
  • We did our registry 5 months before the wedding, mostly because sil wanted to use it for Christmas gifts.
  • I'd advise holding off, too. We started our registry in December (my shower is in two weeks) and what I found out is, lots of items on the registry go out of stock or get discontinued and it's a royal PITA to weed through and figure out replacements.

We registered at Macy's Target and BBB, I liked that all three stores had good prices on the things we wanted and between the three of them, there was a wide selection of stuff.

    Good Luck!

But then I'll have to plan a party, won't I? I don't want to have to feed anyone. I just want presents!

  • We have started thinking about where to register and I think we decided on BBB and Lowes. I actually started yesterday because I was bored at work and looking for laundry baskets and I found a laundry basket/shelf that I loved at BBB and wanted to add it so I wouldn't forget. We don't plan on going to the store and actually doing the registry until some time this fall (after we move).
  • I'm wondering if this is a TK gremlin post from a month board.

Oh silly Nebb, that's not enough time at all!!

B, just have an anniversary shower/sprinkle? Someone else pays to feed people and you still get presents :)

    Us too.

It's not to early to start thinking about who has what and where you'd like to register. The girls on the boards had some great tips for me when I was thinking about registering.

Crate and Barrel was my favorite. They have registry events where the store is only open to couples registering, and you get one on one help and advice about gadgets and such and they serve you champagne and chocolate covered strawberries and baked brie. Pretty much if you give me champagne, I will happily register with you.
  • This reminds me that I only have a few weeks left to take advantage of registry discounts. Hmmm, what else do we need for the house? Oh, and that I have to order our anniversary cake..... Not that you guys really needed to know that. But I'm trying to reach gold here, so, I'm posting. :P

C&B was the best registry experience ever. The woman at BB&B who followed us around with the gun and wanted to make sure we got enough registry cards to put in our invites? Not so much. She also took an hour and a half and made me miss my yoga class. Then I promptly deleted most of the stuff she forced us to have on that registry. My favorite part was, "Even if you already have something, you're starting a new life together! You need to register for all new things and get rid of the old stuff!"

At C&B we got mimosas, pancakes, and toasting flutes, just for showing up.

My FI made me register and it actually ended up being fun.

  • I never had that BB&B experience, we looked for items online, that way there was no lady behind us tagging other things for the registry.

Like other posters, wait til a few months before getting married, so that items will be in stock, and not discontinued. There was a poster a while ago, that was so crying because she wanted platinum dishes, but they either ran out of a style and could only give her 4 of the 8 that she originally wanted... and 4 in another style. That would be funky formal dining for your guests for sure :)

  • I feel like I missed out not going to crate and barrel and getting free champagne!
  • We're wrapping up registry stuff now since STD's are going out next week. We did Macys and Target for the retail shopper types and Amazon for the online peeps.

  • I wonder if there's an anniversary registry, since I didn't do one the first time....

  • I really don't want to start a regular registry. Sure there are lots of things we could use, but I would rather do a honeymoon registry like my boss just did. Find a bunch of things to do on the honeymoon and hopefully people can contribute to the cost of that. I.E. Visiting a museum in london, 2 tix @ $25 (I would convert the money when we got there). Does this sound awful?

Most ppl find honeymoon registry tacky. For one most sites charge a fee. Also generally speaking the person giving giving the money doesn't really know that you spent the money on what they contribute too. Like if I give you $50 for the 2 tix I don't know for sure you used it for that or something else. Also some guest don't like to given monetary gift.

  • I just bought a present for my friend off her registry and I think she got a little gun happy. She had a lot of multiples, and had things like "Pastry Server" in every brand Target offered.

She also only had one gift bought as of today, and her wedding is Saturday. I hope for her sake she's getting a lot of checks or things off her other registry (BBB)
