Does anyone watch Top Gear?

I do and it's awesome. FSIL got me a t-shirt a few years ago that said, "I am the Stig" and one for FI that said, "I am not the Stig."

Anyway... the stig's identity has been revealed!

Fi has speculated who it could be forever. The stig is definitely a better driver than the hosts, so he had to be a pro driver. But not a famous pro driver.

Re: Does anyone watch Top Gear?

  • FI LOVES this show, so I've watched it with him quite a lot.  (He's a mechanic who used to do autocross and has a stiffy for rally racing.)

I guess I better break the news about the Stig to him.  I think he'd agree with rhonwyn that it's not as fun without the mystery.

TBH I think the best part was when they'd go somewhere else and get "the Stig's younger brother" or "the Stig's African cousin".  :)

  • I've never seen the first two seasons, but the "black stig" they had at first I think got fired BECAUSE people found out who he was.

I hope they either keep him or get a new stig. They can't NOT have him on the show.

  • I'm disappointed, too, though fascinated, also.
  • Slub, did you see when they had the stig's American cousin? It was hilarious. The guy was HUGE (like over 6 feet and 300 pounds) and came out of a trailer!

lol, no I might have missed that one, but the african cousin was like a tubby tribesman in native garb with the helmet as I recall...   I think that one was part of when they drove cars across the Sahara or some such ridiculous trip.

  • I know they'll get a new Stig, but I hate when the identities are revealed like that. When Top Gear revealed Michael Schumacher I was okay with it, because it was on their terms.
  • Vegasgroom - fess up. You're The Stig, right??

    I don't watch it; J does, though.

  • That show is awesome. DH's daughter and her husband turned us own to this when we were visiting them in Ireland last year.

I always forget to watch it here. Maybe I need to set the DVR.

  • white stig's identity was found out over a year ago

  • FI and I love that show!  I love that it's funny, he loves the cars.  It's one of the few shows we can agree on watching every time it's on.

The Stig is such a fun mystery.
  • I'm a fan of the show, but typically I have to watch it on mute because I just can't take Jeremy Clarkson's jokes any more, him constantly bashing Germans, French and of course Americans were funny for the first few years, now it's just the same dried up crap week in and week out.  My favorite part of the show is the Star in a Reasonably Priced Car segment when they put a celebrity in a car (that all the others in the segment also drive) and see what kind of lap time they can get, so basically celebrities competing against each other's times.

I really liked a show called Fifth Gear that was also from the UK but is now off the air.  Unlike Top Gear, it was hosted by someone who actually had a racing background instead of Top Gear's hosts which basically just  know hot to spin out and destroy tires lol (excluding stig).

LOL I wish, I'd love to get paid to drive cars.  The racing I do just drains my bank account.

I believe it is on Monday nights on BBC America. We have the DVR set to record it.
