Did anyone watch Four Weddings last night? FI an I did. What can I say? It's my guilty pleasure...
1. I really want to be able to find a picture to show you, but geez, Celeste's dress that she wore to the first wedding was HIDEOUS. All I could think was Pretty In Pink.
2. Quackenbush. 'Nough said.
3. I didn't know that Jehovah Witnesses weren't allowed to go into another place of worship. Is that really true? Hmm, I guess I learned something new.
4. FI asked me who I thought would win at the end. (SPOILERS - if you care.) I said "either this girl or that girl." Both of the girls won. They tied for first place.
FI must bow to my awesomeness now.
Re: Four Weddings
I imagine that the aquarium chick's son felt super awkward dancing with him mom when all of her goods were all kinds of falling out.
I was surprised that a Jehovah's Whitness could even have a big reception like that. Why are birthday parties and holidays not celebrated but big weddings are allowed. I figured it would be more subdued than that. I guess weddings are an exeption?
I think if I had Marisol's photographer, I would have to stop the ceremony and tell him to back the 'eff up! I really liked her whole wedding, though!
I have a love hate relationship with that show. I enjoy watching the different weddings and seeing what everyone does. But the one thing that bothers me is some of the reasons that people judge the weddings.
Example - It's one thing to say that the venue was cramped or the food was cold and give a lower score. But in last night's episode - with Marisol's photog - they made it a point to judge her on it. And though the photog was ridiculous and invasive, it wasn't something that the bride and groom could necessarily control nor was it something that made the entire wedding experience bad for the other girls. Does that makes sense? I feel like it's a cop-out and a way for them to give a lower score in hopes that they do better.
It seems like these girls will be like, "I had a good time, the food was good and I loved her dress, but I didn't like her lipstick color so I'm giving her a 5/10."
I feel like that shouldn't be something that could be judged.

I totally agree. I feel like a lot of the stuff they get downgraded on is stuff they couldn't help.. Like, there's construction down the street, and it made me not be able to park there, or something. That's not the B&G's fault!

Yup. Sometimes it's totally relevant stuff. But many times I see them giving a low score for something so stupid.
"I gave her a 5 because there was too much dancing!"
"I give her a 4 because their first song was 3 minutes and 22 seconds."

Hahaha, right? Or "the bartender in ONE of my drinks, gave me one ice cube too many. FOUR POINTS OFF."

</div><div>FI and I feel guilty about watching it (well, FI only watches it when I'm determined to, haha) because we don't like the idea of judging someone else's wedding. It kinda feels like exploitation of something that shouldn't be exploited. Which makes me a total hypocrite, because I do judge - to a degree. I always wonder about the food, for example. Everyone on that show seems to hate just about everybody else's food. I always wonder if the food would be good enough for a normal person who wasn't set out on judging it, or if it really did suck.</div><div>
</div><div>FI likes watching the show to see what people do for their weddings. I like seeing outrageous things and checking out the dresses (I adore dresses - wedding or no.) </div><div>

This. I like good food. But sometimes I wonder if I am just not all that picky. because really, something has to be pretty sucky for me to be like "This sucks and it ruined the whole wedding experience". I've had some really fantastic food at weddings, and I've had good food at weddings. But never once did I think that anything was not good enough, or just plain terrible, you know?
[QUOTE]And by the way Bunny, you're right about Celeste's dress. I did not like it. It was just too much. Though, her reception dress was much better, although, NMS.

<div>Celeste had a very, um..."out there" style. FI said her wedding gown wasn't his style, but he was happy because it was "her." See, FI can't say one bad thing about anyone on that show because he always says, "Well, that's how THEY wanted it."</div><div>
</div><div>Except, of course, for her pink dress at the beginning. FI judged on that. Hard. It looked like it belonged in a Molly Ringwald movie or something. o.O</div><div>
</div><div>Speaking of stupid judging those chicks do, I remember a girl on the show who had an Indian ceremony, thus she wore this GORGEOUS traditional Indian garb for her ceremony. One of the girls said, "Yeah, her dress was pretty and all, but I prefer the <em>traditional </em>white wedding dress."</div><div>
</div><div>I wanted to pop that girl in the nose! Seriously, way to sound totally ignorant.</div>

I'd prefer to wear Molly Ringwald's dress!
And I agree, that is unbelievably ignorant.
It's similar to what bothered me last night about Soo's wedding. Fine, judge the dress which was a bit skanky (IMO). But they got all bent out of shape about the fact that they were in the shark tank doing their vows and that their was no kiss. Um, excuse me, but the fact that they got married underwater was completely unique to them as a couple. And of course there was no kiss, they had oxygen tanks in their mouths!
I think the show would be better if the actual guests that KNOW the couple, judged it. Dramatic? Yes. But certainly more entertaining. But that's probably a whole different concept for a show.
WE Channel....are you listening? I want royalties!!

</div><div>I agree 100% about Soo's wedding. I didn't catch the beginning, but I understood that it was very important to them as a couple and that's sweet. The only thing that weirded me out was how apparently no one knew they were going to do that so they thought she was running out on the groom. That was a little odd, but I guess they just wanted to surprise their guests. Mission accomplished!</div><div>
</div><div>Haha, I can see HUGE problems with guests who know the couple to judge the wedding. I guess that's what makes good TV, though. </div><div>
</div><div>Everytime I think of the WE Channel, I keep thinking of Sarah Haskins: "WE puts the 'we' in wedding, and the 'end' in feminism." I miss that girl. Sigh.</div><div>

I don't know who that is. Please do tell.

Most of the comments I've seen about the cocktail hour was about how there was too much food, last night's had comments about how there wasn't enough or enough of a variety. Just goes to show you can't please everybody.

Right. What bothers me about the "overall" experience judgement is that the bride's dress has NOTHING to do with the overall experience of a guest. Fine if you want to jusdge it inividually, but to say mention it in the overall is stuoid. The dress has almost nothing to do with the guests' experience. At least not for me.

<div>Unless there was a wardrobe malfunction. Nearly happened at FI's cousin's wedding. She wore a lovely dress, but had to keep pulling up her dress. She held her hand over her breasts as she danced to keep them from falling out.</div><div>
</div><div>I was waiting for a Janet Jackson moment.</div>
You also gotta love how the producers pick the women. First bride says "I like this, but don't like that" Second bride says "I like that, but think this is stupid." It's purposefully setting them up to make the disparaging comments. But hey, it's ratings so who cares, right? Gotta love that thinking.
Or write it right here, if people won't mind the spoiler.

I don't really judge wedding food at all. When a place is serving 100-200 people at once, I'm not expecting it to be amazing. It's would be an added bonus if it were, but I've never been to a wedding with amazing food.
I'd rather go to a wedding at an amazing venue with a great DJ and atmosphere and eat a slightly dry steak. Unless the food made me sick, it doesn't make or break a wedding for me.
[QUOTE]Sadly, I fell asleep in the last 4 min of Four Weddings - could someone PM me with who won? Or write it right here, if people won't mind the spoiler.
