Do you take vitamins?

Do you take any vitamins? What kind and what for? I'm eating a lot healthier lately and want to make sure I'm getting everything I need.

Re: Do you take vitamins?

  • I take a one a day women's vitamin, fish oil capsules (this is new for me) and I mix cold milled flax seed in things like oatmeal spaghetti sauce, shakes, etc.  The latter two are for a several things but right now, their purpose for me is for dry eyes.

I take a daily multi-vitamin and glucosamine and chondroitin for my joints, because they suck.  I take it in liquid form because it apparently absorbs better.

I've also taken calcium supplements and fish oil even though I'm not on it right now.

I like to take vitamins, despite information I've seen that basically says that taking vitamins is horse shiit.

ETA - I've also been on L-Lysine, too, which is for immune health.  People take it to prevent cold sores.

  • I take calcium and vitamin D. Calcium b/c osteoporisis is common in the women on my mom's side and vitamin D b/c it helps calcim absorb better, also for immune support and breast health.

  • I take the once daily multi vitamin from Costco..when I remember!

Whenever I feel like I'm getting sick I take emergen-c 3-4 times a day. I swear it works but H says I'm crazy.

I take a multi vitamin for women and b12. I have to be honest I only take the b12 cause a woman I work with says that since she started them she never gets bit by mosquitos and I always get it BAD.
  • I take a multi (GNC women's bone density support)...FI believes they are the only way to go) as well as vitamin D & E  and fish oil.

I'm severely vitamin D deficient according to blood tests, and I take the E and fish oil because I think that it helps my skin look better, immune system support and because alzheimers runs in our family and they say fish oil may help brain health.  I figure it can't hurt.

  • Lol I just remembered, my ex-boyfriend took St. John's Wort for a while.  I have no idea what it's for, but he was really into it.  He called one day and was like, "Omg, please don't take St. John's Wort.  It can tamper with the effectiveness of your birth control."  Hahahahahahaha.

  • I take calcium and vit d.

    Ha! That's awesome.

  • I take a women's one a day multi and a 5000 iu of vitamin D in the late fall/winter/early spring months.  I can definitely tell days when I forget to take my vitamins- especially if I'm on a trip for a few days and forget them at home.
  • I take fish oil (omega 3) and a vitamin D supplement. The fish oil because most people have very lopsided omega 6 to omega 3 ratios and I know I don't eat enough omega 3 rich food (mainly wild seafood) to right the balance through diet alone. And I take the vitamin D because my doctor told me I'm deficient. I eat a healthy diet of pretty much exclusively whole foods so I'm not really worried about my nutrient intake overall.
  • I take a pre-natal multi (Materna) plus a calcium-magnesium supplement as well, since I can't consume enough calcium by myself in a day. I've also started taking biotin to try and support my hair and nails while baby sucks all the nutrients from me.
  • AATB - Does glucosamine work? I have osteoarthritis and I've been looking for something to take for it, instead of Aleve.

I think it works.  My knees and ankles both suck, especially when I'm doing lots of running for my exercise.  I really notice a difference with the liquid supplement.

Whether or not this is all in my head, lol, I dunno.  But I think it works.

  • I take Womens One A Day prenatal and Vitamin D and B12. prenatal for obvious reasons. You should start taking it a year before you start TTC. Vitamin D because im severely deficient plus new studies link it to ovulation problems. B12 because of IF issues.

Its not mandatory or anything, lol.  But its a good idea to let it build up in your system.  The more folic acid you have in your system, the better.  But its not like it hurts the baby or anything if you dont.  I guess its just a good thing to do if you know you are going to TTC.  Plus, if you are taking a bunch of separate vitamins, you could probably cut it down to one with a prenatal.

  • I don't. I get all the vitamins I usually need from my diet but I do need to start taking a Ca and Vit D  supplement because I know I don't get enough in my diet.

<div>I mean, it doesn't hurt to take a PNV instead, so why not? It's just extra iron and folic acid, usually.  I was taking PNV for awhile before I got KU (thankfully), just because I could stomach them more easily than the other multi-vitamins I had tried.</div><div>
</div><div>So, I'm taking my (new Costco) PNV now, which have omegas in them and DHA on top of the normal PNV stuff. Those suckers are HUGE pills.  I also take a B complex when I remember.  I used to take Biotin for my hair/nails, but I stopped because I felt like I was taking too much stuff. (lame, I know.)</div>
  • i take women's one a day, vitamin d, vitamin c and folic acid daily.
  • I take a calcium/magnesium/zinc for bone and teeth health, triple flex for joints, a womens multi vitamin, biotin and vit a for healthy hair/nails/skin, and a super b complex for my immune system, metabolism, and energy.

Do you mind telling me where you get the calcium/magnesium/zinc? And the brand it is? That sounds perfect for me.

FI and I take Centrum multivitamins, calcium, and zinc (which is why if I found a combination it would be awesome). FI also takes a probiotic, but I don't because I have Greek yogurt in my morning smoothie every day. We take the zinc because it's supposed to boost immunity, and I take it also because it's supposed to help prevent acne and my skin is shittastic.

  • I take a "hair, skin & nails" formula mulitvitamin (biotin), cranberry pills for my urinary tract health (UTI prone), B Complex for energy.

The multi I am taking has made my nails soooo strong and my hair is looking much better these days.  Funny thing is...I started taking them because my skin gets so ragged in winter time...that hasn't changed. Undecided

I take Nature Made and I usually grab it off Amazon because they have something called "Subscribe and Save" which takes 15% off the order, ships it for free, and re sends it every few months (you get to choose).  However I just noticed these are not on the S&S anymore while I was looking it up for you!  Boo.  But they are still worth it.  :)<div>
