First major freakout! And good morning ladies!

Ohhhh my gosh.  Today is my first major freak out.  Since May I have been planning a kick-ass groom's cake for our 11/9/12 rehearsal dinner.  FI is the biggest Jaws fan so I was having a 3D Jaws cake made.  Sweet, right?  Well, I got an email from the bakery this morning saying, "We will deliver Monday, November 19" .  I'm like whhaaaat???  Look up my emails and SOMEHOW I had put 11/19/12 Rehearsal Dinner as the heading of one of my emails....

So this is a very popular baker, she only responds through email, so I sent her an apology saying I had made a huge mistake and blah blah blah...but I'm 99% sure she's going to tell me she can't make it for Friday.  And then I'm totally screwed.  I have the numbers for a few other bakers but her work is just so GOOD you know??  I can't believe how royally I fuuuuuuuuucked this up.  I'm so mad at myself.

In other news...waffles were good last night!  I'm going to make a pizza tonight and we have to pack for our HM and clean the house.  Then tomorrow his is bachelor party!  I'm really happy he gets to have some fun with all of his friends...he deserves it.

What's up with you ladies?  What's for dinner?  Any plans for tonight?

Re: First major freakout! And good morning ladies!

• Good luck with the cake. I'm sure something will work out!

I'm piissy today because I started my period (I don't normally have one because on the type of pills I'm on) but they got messed up because of daylight savings. It never occured to me to change the time.

I have the day off, so I'm getting some paperwork done and lots of cleaning. It's freezing here, so I'm thinking minestrone for dinner.
• Morning ladies!

Alo- that sucks, and I hope she can do it for you on such short notice. Maybe if it doesnt happen for the RD, you can do it for your anniversary or a birthday. Good luck.

I'm at home today, I cant tell whether I'm getting a cold or my allergies are just really bad right now, my throat feels as if I've snorted salt for days.

3 More days and H will be home. And thank god it will be nice out so we can get the yard cleaned up.

Definitely did- it's super sensitive. It's OrthoMicronor. It's a non-estrogen pill because years ago I had migranes so an estrongen pill would have made me more likely for strokes (I guess migranes are a sign.) So it's a straight dosage so I normally only spot when I'm stressed/mess up the time.
• A couple years ago, I tried switching to Ortho Tri Cyclen but got really sick after taking one pill, so I said it wasn't worth it. I don't love not having a period, but it's worked well for me other than being sensitive. They told me if I ever forget for more than two hours past, then it'll take two weeks to trust only the pills again.
• edited November 2012
I don't entirely trust the pills because they're so sensitive, so FI uses condoms, too. I said after we get married, he won't have to (he's never complained) but right now, the alternative can't happen haha

ETA- just followed you on pinterest :)
In Response to Re: First major freakout! And good morning ladies! : haha, excellent!  I haven't had time to organize things that way I want to, so I've just been liking things so I can go back later to pin them.  Whenever later is.

<div>I just realized that there was a tab for likes after you said this! I kind of want to go back through mine to delete other people's comments, but it seems like a waste of time but I still want to :) I might be making scrabble coasters tonight. I'm also making each family member their name in scrabble tiles for an ornament. I need to start actually doing some of the crafts I've pinned. </div>
• Your pinterest is so legit- makes mine look so lacking haha! Maybe today will be the clean up day, doesn't look like I'm moving much so far :) coffee and pinterest sounds better.
• When is the timeline for that to happen? That's so exciting!!
• I understand that. My best friend is in the same situation. They are SO ready for kids (like crazy haha), but they can't do it where they're living now but they haven't found a house they like.

I've been watching too much HGTV- do you think you'll put a lot of work into the home you buy or do you want move in ready?
In Response to Re: First major freakout! And good morning ladies! : If by work you mean adding things on, I'm willing to do that (H wants a deck on the second floor, like a balcony, I think).  If things need repaired, I don't want to do that. (Major things, I mean).  I'm willing to paint and buy new appliances. I have a friend negotiating on a house right now.  There's mold in the basement, the electrical needs redone, and I think it needs a new roof.  That would be a house I would not buy.
Posted by Edie Bee
<div>Right. I'll be the same way when we buy. My friend is heartbroken because they found a great house, but found out it had mold and structural problems after putting in an offer, so they had to walk away. I wouldn't be able to put that kind of work into a space. Like you said, paint and appliances only. </div>
• I agree, I would make them do all the leg work that comes with it. I know my friends werre shocked by what little their budget would by in Maine. Then I watched House Hunters and a guy bought a very nice looking duplex in Altanta for 44k.
• I hope it works out for you and the baker can make it work, Alo.

We had about a foot of snow last night, and it's the heavy, sticky stuff, not the light and fluffy that we're used to. So tonight we'll be doing a lot of cleaning up. My car is crappy and I almost got stuck in the driveway - I'd forgotten how useless it is in the snow.

Pork for supper tonight.

Hahah I pin everything but I am so bad at following through with completing any of the projects.  I also like pinning cute baby things, although in real life I don't like babies at all haha.

<div>hahah love this! So true. I'm really trying to actually do some of the DIY and make some of the recipes because otherwise I feel like I shouldn't be spending so much time on it. My baby board is called "I can't wait to be a aunt" :)</div>
• Our rule on buying a house was no mechanicals (boiler, furnace, roof) under 8 years old. That's my parents old addage. Our boiler ended up being 12 years old, but apparently in boiler years that's like being a baby, so it wasn't a concern. We mostly didn't want to have to put in a new roof.

Good luck finding a house Edie!

Also, HGTV is my jam.

• alois, good luck with the cake situ.  Maybe she can and will do a scaled back version of Jaws?
• The wait will definitely be worth it. I love that I can do whatever I want and not be scolded for putting a nail in a wall or something. However, we learned the hard way that not having a landlodr to do the grunt work sucks. The weekend after we moved in our sewage backed up into our basement and we noticed it pretty much as FI was walking out the door to work. Which meant I was left alone to try to clean three inches of sh!t water out of the basement. I cried a lot.

Wah...she just got back to me and it doesn't look good.  I booked the wrong date back in MAY so she is full for Friday.  Seems she's "seeing what she can do" but in the meantime I'm calling other places.  There's one by our house that said they can *probably* do the cake on Friday as long as I pick it up.  Thing is, I'm terrified of effing up the cake while driving it to the rehearsal dinner.  It's a 30 min drive and I can just see bad things happening.

But I would do just about anything at this point!

Keep your fingers crossed for me :)

• Good luck Alo! At least someone is willing to try and make it for you in time. Can someone else pick it up for you and bring it down, or would that be even more nerve wracking?

• Keeping fingers crossed for you.  As for transporting the cake, assuming you need to get it from other bakery, can you somehow wedge it so it doesn't move when making turns etc.?

It's actually pretty close to my house so I can do it.  I'd rather be the one to mess it up than someone else - I don't want anyone feeling bad because they screwed up the cake!  We'll see...I'll let you know what happens before noon!

• Fx for your cake, Alo!  But don't stress too much.  I't's a cake, and your wedding will be fantastic even if you have to substitute.

8 years for a boiler?  My old house has a boiler that was installed in the 1930s, so ~80 years old.  Still going strong.  Man, I loved the radiant heat in that house.

Cheddar is driving DH nuts.  He meows allthetime and is wandering around looking for me.  Poor kitty misses his Momma.  He keeps texting me asking how to make him stop.  The only way is to talk to him . . . eventually he will settle down.  But I think it's hilarious.

<div>Yeah, we were told by our inspector that boilers average about a 50 year or so life span, so our 12 year old one was nothing to worry about. 80+ years is impressive! And I also love the radiant heat!</div>

• Okay so I have good news and bad news:

Good news: I found a replacement baker and they can have it done on Friday!!

Bad news:  Original baker is now MIA, won't answer my emails/phone calls - so I don't have a guarantee that she'll give me my $ back.  I have to let the new baker know withint 10 minutes if I want the cake.  I think I'm going to tell him yes and pray that this woman has mercy on my frazzled soul and refunds my money.  It would suck to have to lose $146 just because I'm a total idiot.
imageWedding Countdown Ticker
• Yay for the new baker! Fingers crossed that the original will have a heart ...

As for talking/pathetically meowing cats ... adorable to us (absolutely), but not to poor husband who's listening to it non stop! I'd probably lose my mind.
