CAKE BALLS

Help me.

Work is throwing a "getting to know you" party for me and the sales guy I left with on friday. I was told if I WANTED to I could bring a "sweet" but I didnt HAVE to.

Ive decided to bust out the big guns and bring cake balls, blow everyones mind away and become the favourite in the office because of it.

Question:

Re: CAKE BALLS

  • OH and I should add I plan to coat it in beigh (white with a bit of light cocoa) candy melts, with light cocoa drizzled overtop.

I'd eat the heck out of some lemon cake balls right now. I'd eat even more if they had rum in them instead of vanilla icing. Just my 2 cents

This. I didn't even have to think about it when I saw cream cheese.

  • I pretty much think that vanilla cake should not exist.

Chocolate cake with cream cheese icing = the bestest combination EVER.

[QUOTE]I think I'd play it safe and do vanilla/vanilla.  I'd be afraid someone important in the company would be allergic to chocolate. haha

I already checked for allergies and apparently no one is allergic to anything, so I only have to worry about personal tastes.
  • I say play it save and do vanilla/vanilla.  Also you can do some the vanilla cake balls with chocolate icing. That way they have two to pick from and you don't have the hassle of baking two different mixes.
  • I want to do vanilla/chocolate because I think it will look prettiest. Is that a silly reason? I also just think vanilla with chocolate is a safe bet.
  • any flavor as long as it has the cream cheese frosting

  • You could go all out and do a sampler platter of cake balls.

  • Regardless, please share your recipe.

Oh, and I can pm you my address if you feel like sharing...
  • Haha boxed cake mix + icing. The end. I dont care enough to be all fancy like some other knotties. Im exhausted and thats the most effort im willing to put forth.

I just worry that I will make that (spice with cream cheese, or whatever) and then it turns out that everyone is just kind of "meh" about those flavours. Then, my ploy to get everyone to love me, will fall short. We cant have that.
  • I love spice cake, but I think it would be safer to go vanilla/chocolate or chocolate/vanilla for a large group of people. Also I've had bad experiences with cream cheese frosting and cake balls before, but it was when I first started so maybe it was just that I used way too much frosting.
  • I got french vanilla and whipped milk chocolate icing. I decided to go with my first instinct. I just worry too much,is all.
  • I can't see the poll because tk keeps timing out...

Based on what I was reading... why not vanilla cake with lemon icing?

  • I voted spice cake with cream cheese since it's my fave. Although I'd skip any cocoa or chocolate drizzle with that combo. The biggest hit in my office is funfetti with is vanilla cake with vanilla icing, with superfluous sprinkles. Based on my coworkers' fave, go with that.

  • Make everyone's mind explode by bringing TWO!!  You never can have too much cake.  Where did the balls fit in?  I was looking forward to balls....  I.  Want. Cake. Balls.
  • You know, in all caps, it looks sort of like you're swearing.
