NWR: 80th Birthday Party Ideas?

My grandpa is turning 80 a few days before my wedding.  They will already be in Mesquite getting things ready for the wedding.  What is something super fun (or someplace) that we can do for his 80th birthday??

For his 70th we went to Texas Roadhouse - he really enjoyed the "Texas style" birthday celebration with a cowboy hat and saddle.  I'm looking for something a lot bigger/better than that.

    There's Maggiano's Little Italy at North Park.  They have delicious food and would be more than willing to help you with it.

    I've done 2 60th parties -- we did my mom's at Trader Vic's and my dad's at Pappas Brothers.  For my dad's 65th last year, we did III Forks.  All were great.

    Culpepper in Rockwall has a wine cellar you can reserve for 12 and they also have "the backyard" which seats up to 100.  I am not sure really what you are looking for or what area you want to be in. 

    For my daughter's graduation, we are thinking of renting out a few tables at the Iron Chef in Mesquite.  It's a hibachi place like Benihana. The food is really good--it's really the only place we eat in Mesquite.  And you get the whole show by the chefs.

    How many people are you having and when is the date?

    I'm wondering if a Tex-Mex vibe would work--say the balcony at El Fenix in downtown with a veiw of the city?

    Also I went to someplace in Grapevine (located on the main street) that is famous for it's Chile and they had a cute set-up... forget the name though?

    Ooh - I love some of these ideas!!  I'm thinking there are going to be 10-15 of us.  And it would probably be best to stay in the Dallas/East of Dallas area.  They're going to be driving to Fort Worth a lot for my wedding stuff as it is!
