Gift Question

I know this has been asked before but I cant seem to find the post.

We received a check as a wedding gift from someone who RSVP's No.  I know we are suppose to send them a Thank you Card now, but do I cash the check?

EDIT: Also for those of you that ordered some thank you cards for these early gifts what did you write as your from?  Did you say the Soon to be Mr. & Mrs.?  I dont want to put our last name if that is not my name yet.

Re: Gift Question

  • I would cash the check now just because I hate it when people take forever to cash checks that I write.

  • Yes cash it now. The person who gave you the check probably budgeted for the funds to be taken out of their account this month.
  • We're only using our first names  as the "from" on our Thank You cards for early wedding gifts/checks... our families aren't formal.

  • Yea...I have a question with the thank yous! we ordered thank you cards that match our invitations and had the envelopes preaddressed with Mr and Mrs Hislastname on the back...should we use other thank yous for the early gifts...or since B&G have 3 months to send out TYs should we write them on our stationary and stockpile them to be sent out the monday after the wedding?

  • We ordered a set of thank you's for early wedding gifts from wedding paper divas. We had them change the "Mr and Mrs" on the front of the card to our first names + our wedding date, and used one of our favorite e-pics on it. They are actually really cute!

We are just signing our first names on these cards, I don't think a casual thank you note needs to be super formal.
  • Our thank you cards are blank so we're writing "Katie & Stephen" for the early gifts.

Cash the check as soon as possible. It was just on a thread earlier yesterday or a couple of days ago. We got a check last month and we were meaning to cash it and the friend contacted FI's dad asking him to ask us to cash it ASAP because they were going through a divorce and were closing their accounts. There are people who keep track of their money when they write checks so they may be waiting for you to cash it.

  • We got a check from FI's best friend's parents.  It was written out to him since it came before the wedding.  I just put his last name as the return, but I wrote the thank you.  He still has to cash the check.  He is putting it in his savings account so that it isn't spent before the wedding.

  • Yes, cash the check. If you write a thank you before the wedding, just sign your first names.
