Snarky Brides

Ever have one of those days?

I am a grumpy biatch and things aren't going my way...too busy at work today, I went to the gym and wasn't into it, I had errands to run but only did half of them because I got hungry/tired, forgot my phone at school and had to turn around to get it (after my return visit to school at 7pm to get something else), I thought about something to look up online when I got home but forgot by the time I got here, my fridge hates me and I just put water on to boil and I was sitting here watching it trying to figure out why it wasn't doing anything when I realized that it was on LOW instead of HIGH.  FML. I might eat before 8:30 at this point.

SO...what do you do to make yourself feel better when you are in a funk.

I didn't pick up wine, I should have. I am thinking a hot bath might work...

Re: Ever have one of those days?

  • Beer, I sit down quietly on my own and drink beer and stop interacting with the world.
  • IWhen I have a shiity day, I use some sparkling bath bombs and have a nice, hot-as-I-can-stand-it bath. Then I curl up in my super cozy bed with a book and read til I fall asleep.

My bathtub has been unhooked since they redid our bathroom. My step dad (he owns a plumbing company) hasn't gotten around to hooking it back up and it makes me sad.
  • Well first on my list of things to do is dinner. I am making a beef stir fry with a steak that has been marinating in lime juice and grated ginger for 24 hours with baby tomoatoes and baby bok choy...food usually makes me happier.
  • Sorry your day was sucky.  Red wine and a bath should do the trick.  I'm going to make some pumpkin spice cream cheese tonight, because it is getting cooler and it is time to bake pumpkin stuff.  Would pumpkin cream cheese on pumpkin cranberry bread be overkill?

</div><div>I have a huge hard on for anything pumpkin (or squash related).  I think it is because my parents hated eating squash anything when I was kid so we never had it, so I didn't taste it until well into my 20s.  Love it!

[QUOTE]Yes, I am having one of those weeks . We just had to spend $500 because apparently our toilet wasn't installed properly and the line has been leaking (ew!!!). This wouldn't be soo infuriating except we paid over $5000 to have all new plumbing, etc. put it when we bought the house. The plumber today let us know that they didn't use any of the right piping and totally fuucked us over. Also, we lost our rehearsal space for my play with no notice and we had to scramble to find somewhere to donate us space for the past few days.  To make myself feel better, I will be having a few drinks with the girls, and not cooking dinner.

Well that just sucks Jas- W had the same issue with a roofer last year. He disappeared. Does the plumber who did the first job have insurance. If so I would be going after him.

  • I'm sorry you had a bad day, I had a pretty crappy day too. I got a manicure because I decided to take my nails off while I'm unemployed - now they are really, really sensitive.  I'm just gonna chill out for awhile while DH studies and then we're gonna meet up with our friends tonight. Hopefully being around people will help make today better!!
  • I didn't think it would be overkill, either.  I love anything pumpkin - Target has a pumpkin pancake mix that's really good (Archer Farms brand).  And I found a new recipe for healthier mac & cheese that uses butternut squash.  I can't wait to make that either.

  • Sorry you had a bad day. Good thing the week is over and you get a do-over in a couple of days.

I am going to sound super mushy but a big hug from my FH usually makes me feel better. Eating Chipolte and drinking a cold ginger ale hits the spot too.

Feel better sweetie and enjoy that stir fry!!
And the whole time, my future husband was in the room...... image image

  • Thanks KD. I have the original invoice and already called them. She told me they "don't do bad work." Oh, thanks for clarifying. I must have imagined all of these problems and money we spent.

That just sucks. At least you can find yours, but they have to make it right or call the BBB.

Thats another thing, I think QEW niagara hwy driving is FAR different from anywhere Oakville - Oshawa hwy driving. Toronto scares the hell out of me.
  • Driving in the GTA used to worry me but honestly, after about a month of using the highways during down times I was fine. It really isn't that bad. Most of the time you can't go too fast anyways because of the traffic.

The first thing I did after getting my G2 was drive through Toronto to drop my grandfather off. Kind of terrifying that going 20 over the speed limit means being in the slow lane there, lol.
  • KD- That's a great idea. And I am feeling real vindictive too. Thanks! Kiss

  • I think i watch too much global news because im always terrified of accidents driving through toronto. We have to drive through to get from my home town to my husbands home town, or to where we lived before, and once I got to oshawa I was anxious and fidgety in the car. I just cant handle the volume of cars, the speed or the agressiveness.
  • well yes, I have only been driving for about a decade (started late) but 130 - 140 is 'normal' pace for me...

I am sorry so many ladies had rough days too...nice to come here and find company for the evening though!

Sounds like driving <strong>anywhere</strong> in NJ. There's a reason we have the highest insurance rates.

KD is completely right about the BBB.  I have reported a few shady dealings and they've dealt with it immediately.  Even larger companies, like AT&T, have fixed things for me simply because I filed a complaint.  I've always given the company the opportunity to make the situation better, but if they don't they're SOL.
  • I really want to drive to ikea in burlington now that im on the HWY, but the idea of going over that big ass bridge just makes me not want to. I have an issue with big bridges, I have nightmares of driving on them and then when I get to the top the bridge hasnt been finished and I drive off the end. Im pretty much STUCK between st. catharines and hamilton due to big bridges.

Ah yeah, it's a bit more scenic. I'll take it if I'm going to my parents' store in Port Carling, but it adds another 30 minutes if I'm just going straight home.

ETA: By it, I apparently just mean the 400 extension. I never go far enough to actually hit 69.

<div>You can do it Nebb!  Or, you can wait at a timmy's on one side and I will come and get you and take you to the other and then we can go to Ikea together. It is one of my favourite places and they make the best frozen yogurt ever. </div>
