Is Stag and Doe the same thing as Jack and Jill parties? If so, the loud talker behind me on my flight to Vegas was having his own this sat night. Also, he spent 10-12K on his fiance's rings. Yes, he told people that. sigh. Steph I always forget about Sun Country- work wouldn't let me use them for flying, but for personal flights I will start considering them more. It would be nice for me to have a less stressful airport experience.

I think the difference is that stag and doe parties charge admission, like a cover charge but jack and Jill showers are just showers for men and women.

But if it is a Saturday night? would there be a shower then? I figured it sounded more like a party than a shower. But no one does either around mn so I dunno.

Bike shorts underneath until passing security, then take them off and shove them into your carry-on. :)

    lol at Urban Dictionary:

Jack and Jill party: a gathering of males and females, who masturbate in front of each other for mutual stimulation and enjoyment. (Generally looking is encouraged but touching is not.)

Another site said that it could be a shower, or it could be a fundraiser type party. So it isn't really set in stone I guess.

OMG Nebb, I LOVE the new sig!!

I agree with AATB, Phoenix airport is dreadful. I've never been more stressed in my life, both flying to and from Oakland since my connecting flights were in Phoenix. The first time, my first flight was delayed, which made our plane land late, so I had to book it to make the connecting flight. And then, on the way home, I asked an airport employee how to connect to my returning flight, and they sent me outside the terminal when I really didn't need to, so I wound up circling the aiport in the shuttle until I noticed that I needed to be right where I started.

And I do like Alameda. I was out there for 2 1/2 months working for a detached CG Headquarters unit for the DWH Oil Spill. I loved all of the little restaurants, especially the macarons at that little organic supermarket. I can't remember the name. I'll find it.

I don't know? The only jack and Jill shower I was invited to was at night and it was a stock the bar shower but we didn't pay admission.

We do some pretty stupid shiit up here in the boondocks, what with dollar dances, garter auctions, gift opening brunches. But at least we don't have jack and jill parties. Those sound pretty damn bad.

Dot - It was the Feel Good Bakery that had the good macarons. I went apey for their lemon and raspberry ones. I didn't get to spend a whole lot of time exploring while I was there, but I did like it. And you're right about the houses. They're beautiful; I love Victorians, they're totally my style.

I always thought jack and Jill's were a co Ed shower and sometimes there would be raffles. Someone on my month board posted about being charged $20 to get into one. Really?! $20 freaking bucks on top of the fact that they were supposed to bring cash for the games. Weird.

We had a Jack and Jill, but it was just a co-ed shower. No entry fees, no games, nothing like that. We did have an ice luge for ice luge shots though. That was fun. When we opened up a gift from someone, they had to go out and do an ice luge shot.

How did you like living in Alameda? I didn't realize it was an island until recently. I can't see locations in the mobile ap are you still in CA, or did you move out of state? And yes, I'm looking for office space in Rockridge, which would be awesome. I live in SF, but I need to stay in the East Bay because my clients are all here. I'll be back in an hour!Posted by polichikNope I have only ever lived in CA.nbsp; I love Alameda.nbsp; It's quirky and weird and totally cool.nbsp; The housing there is high for the East Bay but there are some fablous Victorians and bungalows.nbsp; There are some great restaurants there.nbsp; It is centrally located to Oakland and super easy to get to SF.nbsp; The thing that sucks is the traffic.nbsp; there are only two ways on and off the island so if one of them is shut down it sucks.nbsp; For example they film movies over on the old Naval Air Base and in the Webster Tube so they get closed down all the time.nbsp; So you have to drive across the island and out past the estuary.nbsp; Lame.nbsp; Posted by Dot Dash
That's really cool about Alameda, minus the traffic! It seems like so much more of a community than the larger areas, like people might actually know their neighbors' names. Forgive me if I misse this, but are you still there now? I feel like I remember you living in the south bay, but I'm probably wrong.

Have you guys ever noticed all the damn bicyclists in Alameda? They're EVERYWHERE. And when you're stopped at a red light, they'll pull alongside you and grab the inside of your wheel well or bumper and let you pull them along the road. It freaked me out when I was there, and happened on at least a half dozen occasions.

It totally reminded me of the saying "When you're driving, you hate pedestrians. When you're a pedestrian, you hate drivers. But no matter what mode of transportation, you always hate bicyclists".

    Oh, also these:

Flavors of India, on Park St. I loved their naan, and the lamb vindaloo knocked my socks off. They have these tandoori wrap/sandwich things that are super yummy.

    and

Quinn's Lighthouse: http://www.quinnslighthouse.com/ (I'm partial because it's right near the CG base and the Hilton where I was staying, but their food is good, you can see people row by on their boats, and I love the food.)

I also really enjoyed getting my hair done at Antidote Salon. If you go, ask for Mary. She's wonderful. She got my color spot-on. She kept calling it "chocolate covered eggplant".
Holy ishballs, I hardcore judge anyone who felt "betrayed" by the HG movie because they realized Rue was black. There are tons of people that are being all racist because they fell in love with her character in the book and didn't realize she was black, even though the book says she was "dark skinned". One person apparently even complained that they cried for her in the book when she died and feels ashamed she did so now that they realized she's black... I judge people who use 'gay' as an insult. If they're old enough to know better (aka not 4th graders) that's even worse. Double judge. I think it's so rude and just icky on any number of levels. My friend just did it and I was thinking "Duuuude.... not cool."
